they drown out all the intricate guitar-interplay with cheesy sub-bass bloops, and it even sounds like they replaced or augmented some bass tracks with synths

it makes it sound like moody phil collins

They make good music but shouldn't have changed their name.
Yes, it was offensive, but it was actually a pretty good name. Much better than the new one, at least.

Anyway, Viet Cong was a good album. Preoccupations was more of a slow-burner but still OK. Haven't listened to "Cassette" yet and don't really plan on it.

I actually prefer Preoccupations, but maybe that's just because I heard it first. Such a fun album.

The name change was stupid, I wish they hadn't buckled like that but I guess it's just easier in the long run than dealing with those kids. Still good music at the end of the day.
