got the feel for it thanks to that other drummer thread

le comfy early morning coffee

I'm only a few tracks in, but it's interesting enough that it warrants another listen. Sounds like there's more of an electronic influence
been on a fugazi kick again today
>>71549812
SDON never gets talked about, which is a damn shame. The rhythm section is insane
This album is the only good thing in my life today

Fantasy Island, So Now What and The Fear are nice songs. The rest are really catchy in a kind of sickening way, the other night I woke up with the chorus to 'Heartworms' stuck in my head and my head was pounding and I wanted to die. Yesterday I listened to Wincing The Night Away immediately after Heartworms and it really fucked me up how perfectly beautiful that album is and how strained Heartworms sounds. I'm scared I'm just getting old and all the bands I love are just making shit now.

Hi Scores by BoC
>>71549904
don't worry about getting old. the problem with the shins is that james mercer is insane, kicked out all of his band members and started making poor music with basically a new band under the same name
>>71549904
Heartworms sounds like Mac Demarco song with vocal harmonies
>>71549699
I actually saw them on Friday at the El Rey Theater. One of the songs that was playing by the DJ prior to the band coming out to play was by the Slavic Soul Party! It's a pretty good album.

That, actually.
I like it, but I'm not sure how much I like it.
I mean, I liked Port of Morrow, but I'm having a hard time reconciling Cherry Hearts, Rubber Ballz and Half a Million as Shins songs.
I think every other song is great though, Shins songs really grow on you. It's never going to be like the old times, but I can deal with that.
>tl;dr: abstract kind of feel
>>71550167
Cherry Hearts sounds too much like Painting With
Rubber Ballz has kind of a nice melody but it's called Rubber Ballz and is kind of douchey if you read the lyrics
Half a Million is dogshit
still better than Port of Morrow
New Immolation record. Pretty bland desu.
>>71549904
5/10
>>71550192
Port of Morrow has Simple Song, Rifle Spiral, No Way Down, Fall of 82 and 40 Mark Strasse
Heartworms has Dead Alive, Name for You, So Now What, Mildenhall and Heartworms and Fantasy Island.
Fantasy Island just clicked for me, it almost captures that old Shins feel.
>>71550282
>port of morrow has september
fixed, it's the only song that sounds like the shins
>>71549904
Lekman just sounds like iron and wine famalam and fandango said that album was only ok>>71549942
>>71550321
I think it's fine to vary the sound from album to album. Inverted laid the groundwork, Chutes to Narrow experimented and went a bit bolder, and Wincing pretty much nailed the Shins sound. Where do you go from there?
Also fucking fight me, 40 Mark Strasse is fucking /transcendental/
Also, protip for everyone in the thread: They're making a "flipped" version of every song in the album, already released the one for "Name For You". Pretty neat, if nothing else.

I meant to post this

Just finished it. What a shitty ending to the last track.
I'm checking out the latest VMP record, Tennis - Conditionally Yours.
I'd heard the band before and wasn't super enthused, but this album is very good so far. They have a perfect hold on capturing the sound and feel of the female 70s pop aesthetic on this record, which I grew up hearing a good amount of through my parents, so I have a certain soft spot for it.

I've been seeing this album all over the place and just now gave it a chance. Not the sound I expected. Reminds me of piano pop my mom used to listen to, but in a good way.
Stapleton still has it
Massive Attack x Burial
I wish they had done more
It's been ages since I listened to this, I'd been on a bit of a noise rock kick recently, this is bringing me back to normality without losing all the noise
>>71560058
seeing Slowdive in may. so fucking excited.
Gabor Szabo
Philip Glass - Einstein on the Beach
Interesting, not sure what to think of it yet.
