It's hardly scary to me.
It sounds legitimately beautiful. I feel like I'm in a completely different planet when I listen to it. It's also nostalgic, so I feel like I'm remembering this planet, so to speak. It really is like a dream. Sunshine Recorder also gets my vote for one of the coolest song titles of all time, it's even cooler because it totally fits the song somehow.

If I wanted to be scared I'd listen to dark ambient. Some metal albums work too. In particular, some years ago I was in middle of a dark ambient album and there was this part that creeped the shit out of me and I stopped listening. Sadly I don't remember what was it called or the band either.

I'm an entirely different person and I've never listened to this album. I'm just pointing out that "you're wrong because the band says it's creepy" isn't a valid argument. You can't convince someone that they were actually scared when they weren't.

It straight up samples some weird cult shit, has a lot of disturbing voices and moans buried deep in the mix and extensive use of backmasking. Not to mention the infamous 66:06 runtime. It's a mysterious album but also a dark one.

BoC made no secret out of the fact that it's their darkest album. 9/11 happened while they were in the studio recording. Even the earliest reviews called the album dark and disturbing.

Geogaddi is psychological horror while other more conventional 'scary albums' are more like slashers. Geogaddi is really an unique album that can't be compared to anything else.
