I can't fucking believe it. A major label hip hop artist is interesting in working with me.
I'm sorry I am not allowed to tell you who it is, but when this deal is all done I'm gonna write a blog post or whatever and tell you everything about this experience.
Now here's where I need your help /mu/. I have absolutely no clue how I can set this deal up. I have no experience in the music business and I don't have a plan how much money it would be reasonable to get for a project of this magnitude.
Here are some infos about this whole thing:
> I am 20, been producing hip hop stuff for about 4-5 years now.
> No fame whatsoever right now.
> First collaboration project with a known artist.
> We'll do 1 track for the beginning and if it bangs, I can expect to work with him in the future more frequently.
> This artist has some A++ connections (I'm talking Kanye West level)
Is he black?

lmao. yeah he is.
No one here can help you

>wait 4 posts
>post your soundcloud link
You aren't slick OP
If a major artist wanted to work with you, there would be no need to ask this question.

i'm sorry, can't post my sc either. it would be easy to find out who i am working with, since i did quite a lot of remixes of this given artist.
I sent them to him over twitter and email and he texted me back, saying it's dope and whether i am interested in a collab and some infos about it. didn't respond yet.
here's a clyp.it of a project i did this morning.

very rough mix and too repetitive right now but i only worked on it for about 3 hours.
oh and no it's not freddie gibbs i am working with.

i was about to call bs but this actually sounds great. good for you.
gl and keep us updated
>>71517845
Well obviously demand to get credited properly. When that's done the money's less important.
>>71518137
that's what i was thinking but at the same time i have this feeling that everyone just does shit to get credited and for "exposure" but nobody actually succeeds as a real producer.
how did they found out about you?
>>71518199
send hundreds and hundreds of mails & tweets to just about any artist i like and after 2 months i got this text.
>>71518181
>to get credited and for "exposure"
Nah producers just want to make a living making music and hanging out with big names. Despite producers having the bulk of the talent they are very rarely commercially successful.
>>71518219
cool, happy for ya

> Nah producers just want to make a living making music and hanging out with big names
Call it what you want but if you do this you're just a bitch of a celeb. I either want to succeed with my own shit, kinda like FlyLo or Clams Casino e.g. or keep this thing as a hobby and just put out my own music independently. I don't want to just make a living and be handled like a bitch just to be in the near of my rap crush.

Hip-hop producers are no bitches m8, they're the most respected artists in the industry. You have to be musically talented, an expert at mixing and above all creative.
If you can rap and produce your own stuff great, but don't undermine producers.

kind off worded myself poorly, what i actually meant to say was, i don't like being in the shadow of a famous celeb, just because he's famous. i am not calling producers bitches, quite the opposite actually, they're the reason what makes the music sound the way it does. and too me that's equally as (if not more) important as someone rapping over the beat.
I have the uttermost respect from every producer in the industry, i can't imagine how difficult it must be to constantly deliver good music. but i feel like a lot of them just get fucked over by rappers because they feel like they're more important. and i would never swap my self respect for a little bit of fame of standing in the shadow of a famous rapper.

Yeah didn't mean to be pedantic
Sucks but that's just the way it is. Even in the underground scene you have immensely talented producers who have worked with big names and nobody knows who they are. Rap is all about image and the frontman sadly.
