Hence why she seems to be working on doing that sort of thing currently (producing on other people's songs - her latest official release was also her first official producer-only collab.) This. BloodPop's style is much simpler, thinner and repetitive. Grimes' productions are bursting with little details and big fat melodies.

Grimes is a huge (in indie music industry terms) brand name popstar with loads of critical acclaim as an entirely self-made artist and a reputation for being a Wizard of Oz-level directorial mastermind.

Now. Imagine the potential PR fallout waiting any traditional popstar at or above Grimes' current level of success if they were to bring her in as a producer. Normally the way mainstream popstars manage to get away with outsourcing the actual construction (writing/producing) of their music is by hiring people who only industry insiders or music super-fans (hello, /mu) know about.

Grimes - while not quite yet a household name, is looking increasingly likely to get to that point in not too long a time. Which is why imo it is VERY unlikely you are going to see her openly producing for someone like a Lorde or a Lady Gaga (both of whom btw are soon to have albums out produced by the only two Grimes collaborators in the industry - coincidentally I'm sure.)

Grimes isn't going to be producing for any big-name popstars in the foreseeable future - because all the headlines would be about how (accurately) awesome she is. However that doesn't mean she can't/won't be producing for other types of musical acts in the mean time.
