Hence the maybe. You are right, it is hard to tell who legitimately doesn't like them and who just hates them for their fanbases, especially for Death Grips and Animal Collective.

Personally I think Tame Impala is good but nothing special. I think the hatred comes from 1 the amount of critical acclaim they get as a psych rock gig, 2 how similar to the Beatles they are, and 3 Fantano / Pitchfork consistently reviews them well, despite usually not liking derivative artists.

honestly I really liked I'm in your mind fuzz, but anything beyond that is an utter disappointment. Very disappointed with their releases beyond that. I'm seeing them live soon , maybe that will be enjoyable. They come off as gimmicky, obviously that's not their intention but I've really tried to like their work but I don't find any value beyond "we are different, we release multiple albums a year haha we just do it like we just make music please like us we are australian and quirky"
