FUCKING PLEBS GET OUT OF MY BOARD REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>71464039
you posted a bunch of decent artist with a couple good songs thats it.
none of them are good. fuck off
>>71464039
These artists just aren't that good and popular. Don't expect anyone to even hear about them.
>>71464046
>>71464094
>you posted a bunch of decent artist with a couple good songs thats it.
Jetsun Mila, L'île résonante, and Trilogie de la Mort are all god-tier drone pieces.
Laurie Spiegel pioneered electronic algorithmic composition and The Expanding Universe is pretty good.
Quarantine is more original than 99% of albums that came out this decade, and Chance of Rain is also good.
Herndon's sound design on Platform is on par with Autechre (even though I must admit her songwriting isn't very engaging).
People Like Us is one of the best WFMU DJs and Hates People Like You is quite underrated.
I need to explore more of Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith's stuff, but I was impressed by Ears and her use of Buchla synths. Her stuff is certainly more compelling that your run-of-the-mill minimal techno EP straight outta Berlin.
I reckon Lolina isn't that great, but Live in Paris is still a pretty interesting album.
>>71464359
none of that is true. and nobody would agree with you not even rym

laurie anderson is cool

Erica Dunham aka Unter Null

>Quarantine is more original than 99% of albums that came out this decade, and Chance of Rain is also good.
>Herndon's sound design on Platform is on par with Autechre (even though I must admit her songwriting isn't very engaging).
absolutely false. compared to someone like grimes who really innovated electronic music, these 2 artists made failed experiments. in their quest to make interesting sounds, they forgot about good songwriting and that's a dealbreaker.

her albums are superior to anyone
but individual singles i think tons of recent female surpass her. its just they can't keep it up for a full length like grimes
>>71467847
>but individual singles i think tons of recent female surpass her.
I doubt it. Her singles and super solid. Just look at this list: Vanessa, Crystal Ball, Oblivion, Genesis, Nightmusic, Go, Realiti, Flesh Without Blood, Scream, Kill V. Maim, California, World Princess Part II, Butterfly, Belly of the Beat, Venus Fly. No female artist did a better string of singles this decade.

She puts on a cool show. It's nice that not as many people know about her, so it's easier to get in/out of the venue and to actually see the stage when she's performing.
>>71472020
That's one of the advantages of liking more obscure (but visible ;)) artists.
women dont make music thay make SANDWICHES!!
Valerie Cooper of Sweet Trip
Why do people always fucking think grimes is so amazing?
Best electronic lead female is the knife or stereolab
>>71463654
yeah delia derbyshire is the shit
really captures the englishness of a lot of that early electronic music
>>71472630
>them puns
>>71472696
Honestly, Grimes is better than both The Knife and Stereolab. The problem with these 2 bands is that they're not very consistent: some great tracks and quite a lot of filler.
>>71472730
Speaking of Danz, I still listen often to her album Davos. It's delicious.
>MIA (minus recent shit)
>FKA Twigs
>Beth Gibbons (portishead)
arca
tokimonsta
Grimes is all filler, every song has the same tempo and beats mixed under with her high pitched voice of mediocre kyrics that are almost inaudible . At least Karin from the knife distorts her voice at times to add variety, and stereolab is amazing for a 90s band when most genres sucked.
Grimes is doing nothing out of thr oridinary that hasn't been already made, and she does it medicore.
>>71472758
It's a great album that I go back to often. I discovered CM on Spotify and usually when I discover a new artist, they've just performed in my city. So it was a relief that she just kicked off the winter tour a few months after I discovered her.
>>71472836
I'm a giant fan of Portishead and got to see them live in their second USA tour, but it's not all Beth creating the music. Then again, I don't know how much contribution she adds with songwriting.
>>71472891
>Grimes is all filler, every song has the same tempo and beats mixed under with her high pitched voice of mediocre kyrics that are almost inaudible .

Who are the similar artists to her?
>>71471714
I've actually had lunch at that same table.
Holy Fuck.
Yes, I've listened to her music because although we might disagree I wouldn't be able to say i don't like it without hearing it. I might be a cunt but im not stupid too.
I legit just pressed play all at once on three of those songs and they all sounded like one.
You really didn't need to take the time to send me links to confirm her music isn't worth the praise it recieves.
She's a newer version of Bjork and Lykke Li.
Any other affirmations you need confirmed sweetie?
>>71472696
>Why do people always fucking think grimes is so amazing?
Because she is. Amazing, that is.
Which doesn't mean that the others you mention aren't as well - just that it's only you who feels strongly enough about to say it.
Who the fuck is grimes
>>71472891
>kyrics
Anon, it is usually customary among people with brains to actually listen to music before attempting to describe its content.
>>71473320
>I legit just pressed play all at once on three of those songs and they all sounded like one.
Seriously?
The first song is Eight, a short weird track with a robotic voice and really high pitched vocals.
The second song is Omega, again a short song that sounds like alien music. Some tribal rhythm and really weird vocals.
The third song is a 10 minutes ethereal improvisational jam that sounds like nothing else.
The fourth song is Gambang, a dark track with a very chill vocals.
The fifth track is Scream, a track featuring a Tawanese rapper and intense screams over a repetitive beat.
etc.
Why do you lie?
So what's the excuse for most of you fags on /mu/ who claim half these artists are good?
Must be listening to some other shit

Anon, why are you attempting to Charles Ives yourself with Grimes' music?
>>71473560
That anon really needs to sit down and "digest" her music. Skipping through 3 tracks of her is not listening.

Weird such weird it
It me grime
>>71473624
Now go and listen to her music
Is grimes that chick from the lizzie mcguire movie?
>>71473701
Nah. She's a Canadian indie electronic artist. A one woman band if you will: singer, producer, director, dancer, songwriter, sound engineer, multi-instrumentalist.
