/Shugazi/
This thread is for the discussion of shoegaze, dream pop, blackgaze, noise pop, and any other type of beautiful, ethereal, wall-of-sound genre.
I've been jamming this lately.
Its a shame it's never been pressed on vinyl, and probably never will be.
First for Slowdive. Thoughts on the new-ish track?
What are your favorite noise pop albums? I would like some recs.
>>71416785
A bit fast but I enjoyed it.
What's real disappointing were the new Ride tracks.
>>71416797
Probably this, and Psycho Candy.
>>71416797
gotchu fampai
My favorites are Boces by Mercury Rev and Horsedrawn Wishes by Rollerskate Skinny. Neither are on the chart ironically but the other Mercury Rev one is more seminal.
>>71416931
>>71416936
Thanks! I like Boces and Horsedrawn Wishes a lot.
>tfw this is 10 years old now
Also, Loveless & Isn't Anything reissue when?
>>71416785
Really Enjoy star roving
>play in blackgaze/post-black metal band
>love shoegaze
>it's one of my favorite genres
>want to do a split record with a shoegaze band
Would that be weird? Blackgaze/metal on one side, and shoegaze/dream pop on the other side?
>>71417273
just a thought but maybe you can structure the album so it gets progressively more dream pop or progressively more blackgaze
maybe you can even rework the same melody of one genre into another to give it a cyclic flow
>>71417550
I second this, I feel like that would be a lot better and is a really good suggestion
>>71418023
MBV kinda did it on their third album. Goes from Loveless 2.0 to something batshit insane with Wonder 2
rec some albums not on the charts

New Japanese shoegaze group i found a few weeks ago. Romanized name is Yuragi
SUPREMA FUCKING WHEN
>>71418854
I don't know if you've ever listened to Best Coast, but their first EP is reallyfloaty.
>>71418854
Don't know why Cheatahs aren't on any charts. I like this EP the best
>>71418854
New-ish Japanese shoegaze album. Definitely worth a listen
Does anyone here like katie dey? Is she /shugazi/?
When is the new Slowdive album coming out?
>>71423253
This
>>71423253
They were just kidding
I really liked this. Dos anyone know more shoegaze with an indie rock feel like this?
>>71416738
HEAVEN OR LAS VEGAS IS AMAZING
FUCKKKK
I love Brian Jonestown Massacre but why does he put on a British accent on purpose while singing?
>>71423939
really? wtf i heard nothing of this, werent they doing a tour or something?
>>71417273
dude. ok but what if like country on one side and like rap on the other side? and we just use sonic youth alternate tunings and hopelandic lyrics. also this girl i know is going to be on it trust me its a good idea.
>>71418854
>>71416763
this looks like a perfect ep for me. I'll check it out.
I've been listening to pic related a lot recently. Is it on the /shugazi2017/ chart already?
>>71416785
It's pretty good. All of their old stuff seemed really unique and it kind of seemed like anyone could have done Star Roving though. Still excited for their new album though a few months ago I was sure it would have been released by now.
>>71425888
He's just fucking with you, yes they're on tour and the new album is supposed to come out in 2017.
>>71416797
>>71423219

I listened to Psychopomp the other day and I adored it! Anything similar?
Can anyone recommend non-poppy shoegaze? I'm trying to get into the genre and I want a diverse range of bands to listen to.
>>71428674
Maybe try blackgaze
>>71429021
I'm not a fan of black metal. Are there any traditional shoegaze bands that have a non-poppy sound?
This is an album that I enjoy very much
>>71426699
my nigga
>>71429160
That wouldn't be traditional.
>>71429318
All right. Are there any such bands?
>>71429369
Belong
I am so thankful that MBV decides to change their vocals to what they currently are.
Been listening to Faye Wong, a Chinese dream pop qt someone recced a while ago.
Couldn't dig it at first since I hate the Mandarin language, but she has a great voice and the music was reminiscent of a poppier Cocteau Twins with a little more variety. Good stuff, will probably continue exploring her discog.
Currently blazed and listening to Violet Cold at ridiculous volume, that integration of post-rock melodies into t h i c c walls of blackgaze makes me feel like I'm disintegrating. People occasionally bump Desperate Dreams but Magic Night is where it's at, pure dreamlike melancholy and none of the cheesy synths.
bumpy bump
>>71416785
Better than souvlaki in my opinion.
Never could get into them, always preferred MBV because they have a feel that is more akin to my taste.
>>71429200
Nothing sucks
For some reason the only shoegaze I can get into is my bloody valentine (entire discography) and The Silver Album by The December sounds.
I followed the charts, am I not getting it?
I need some violentgaze o despairgaze, i'm tired of hearing beautiful ethereal wall of sound, i want ugly and depressive ethereal wall of sound.
>inb4 blackgaze
GARBAGE
Does anyone know anything like Slowdive besides Pastel Blue?
>>71418854
where do pale saints fit into the over arching shugazi hierarchy
>>71428540
been listening to it, was gonna post it
>>71432716
Listen to shoegze backwards
Anyone heard this?
shoegaze has become the most worn out and mediocre genre of them all.
>>71433808
I like it
My favorites:
MBV
Slowdive
Sweet Trip
LSD and the Search For God
Allisons Halo
Starflyer 59
Lilys
Astrobrite
Whirr
Swervedriver (if they count)
So should I just use yt to listen through all these albums or is there a good streaming service
What's some more shoegaze like The KVB and A Place to Bury Strangers?
I like the noisiness but also the use of electronics in both bands.
>>71434199
Common era by Belong
>>71424047
If you want indie rock shoegaze, try Nothing or Pity Sex.
>>71426044
this was good. love the ambient parts
>>71429363
This is okay but I found this:
https://asaks.bandcamp.com/album/the-millia-pink-and-green-ep
by them and it's so good imho
>>71416738
What album is this?
>>71432918
As popular as it is, it's still pretty underrated.
>>71435493
Tokyo Anal Dynamite by The Gerogerigegege, it's just an alt-cover
>>71433055
Cheers!
>>71417273
yeah just kind of "remain in light" it like he said>>71417550
