Are these guys the saviors of Psychedelic Garage Rock? Thee Oh Sees are great, but King Gizzard just spits out gold so fast that they could single-handedly revive the genre.
Thoughts?
KG is a cool band that i think Will either die in 2 years or go down as an amazing band their new album was pretty hot
Flying Microtonal Banana was GOAT

Yeah. I'm hoping they'll last well, but there's a chance that they could die pretty soon from overexerting themselves.
King Gizzard is fucking great. I've been following/listening to these guys for 2 years now and I haven't gotten bored of them at all. I hope they don't die out soon because nearly all of their material is gold

Come for King Gizzard, but stay for Thee Oh Sees (actually stay for both - we live in a wonderful time!)

King Gizz - Quarters!
This band is awful

Your mom is awful.

why?

They're good but saviours if psychedelic rock? No
They haven't done anything different with it. They picked up a good idea with microtonal music but then just put it into their formula again with no variation and no interesting uses.

great fuckin band. seeing them in philly later this month, im hyped.

last album was all gimmick and no substance. Honestly don't understand how it's getting praise, it's so fucking repetitive.
I wish I liked Gizzard. Musically they're quite interesting but I can't do vocals in my psych rock.
I'm keeping my stock in the likes of Oresund Space Collective, Papir, Electric Moon, etc. (For what little impact they might have.)

I would still put Thee Oh Sees on a higher plane. It may not seem like it right now, but Jon Dwyer is one of the most versatile, longest running craziest dudes. Not just coachwhips and all the OCS/OhSees derivatives, Pink and Brown was great, Damaged Bug is awesome. Plus, Ty Segall is kind of like his protegé, and none of that stuff would exist if JD didn't do his shit so well for so long beforehand.
Maybe I'm biased tho, Thee Oh Sees were probably the best 'band I discovered from going to a show with a friend' when I saw them in 2011, crazy warehouse show and their energy was just so awe-inspiring.
I have yet to fully dig into king gizzard, but I do like what I've heard. Still though, I think Psychedelic music is plenty healthy, it's not in need of a savior so much as a re-instatement into the general public's interest. Not enough normies can free themselves from the idea that only loud bass-heavy generic electronic music goes with drugs, I guess?
