I think Salad Days is a great album, rest of his stuff is ok. His new singles are really good, looking forward to the new album.

Seems like a chill dude, fans can be real obnoxious though. I read an interview with him where he said he was annoyed by the misconception that he was lazy because he was relaxed, and in reality he worked and tours constantly. I can't help but feel that his fans project their laziness onto him.

He's getting too popular. Once certain people get too famous and you see too much of them everywhere, they stop being as fun/entertaining. Not because they've gotten worse or anything, but because you just see them way too much and get tired of it.

Same thing that happened with Tame Impala. They're good, I like them. But when everyone and their mother starts jerking themselves off to The Less I Know The Better, I'm not going to go home and listen to them when I've heard them everywhere all day.

I feel like the same thing is happening to Mac DeMarco. He's good, don't get me wrong on that at all. I like his music. But this next album is going to be so overplayed, i can feel it already. And great for Mac, honestly. He deserves it, seems like a genuinely good dude. But if I head his music everywhere during my day, I'm not going to listen to him when I'm alone and need to unwind. He'll be something generic, accessible, and non-offensive to play in the car with friends, not something that I genuinely want to listen to.

He went to my friend's party in Echo park. We talked for a bit, mostly about old bands, nice guy, started talking about annoying Echo park poseurs, saw it as an opportunity to tell him about his shitty fan base, and he didn't really respond, just sort of shot me an annoyed look and was like "alright, dude".
