When has an album REALLY pushed the boundaries of hip-hop as much as pic related did?
>>71368808
dj rashad - double cup
>>71368808
If I listen to it now it wont seem that weird but the first time I heard Madvillainy (the song "raid" was the first I heard) it gave me a very bizarre almost otherworldly vibe, not like it was this big revelation but like something was wrong or just off, no other rap song blew me away the first time like that one did
>>71368808
I mean, it's a good album but it isn't really boundary pushing
>>71368849
please elaborate. i cant think of a single hiphop album that truly tour down the walls of 'hiphop'
>>71368929
it's literally just hip-hop with bjork samples as instrumentals
>>71368970
>just
are you 15?
>>71369026
alright then music genius, explain to me why that album is boundary pushing
>>71369155
yes
>>71369155
Not same anon but really I feel you're not really thinking this argument through.
Nobody had done the same thing.
It was pretty ballsy and unexpected. Not every average DJ/Producer goes through with a project like this.
It worked. And it did work really fucking well.
>Not done before
>No one else doing it
>Did it
>Did it fucking good
R-E-V-O-L-U-T-I-O-N-A-R-Y
>>71368808
lol no, in case you havent noticed most hip hop artists these days arent really even fucking trying
>>71368820
this.
>>71368808
This
some casual is gonna say cloudead or even worse rtj. Face candy was pretty out there.
as great as notm is, its beats arent too out of the ordinary, just ambient and hollow and with some wild percussion. Some of the song structures are really conventional too.
>>71370575
This album is incredible
>>71370773
Face Candy was the shit, though I wasn't a big fan of Waste Age Teenland. This Is Where We Were and Jam City are fucking gold, though.
>>71368808
dalek coming out with noise and hip-hop the way they did in 1998 was pretty fucking out there.
>>71371396
TEETERING I'M EATING AT MY OWN MENTAL HEALTH
>>71368808
This album elevated music, not just hip-hop, in a way that no other 21st century work has done
>>71368808
TMS is more forward-thinking than NOTM, but NOTM is more innovative than TMS.
Atrocity Exhibition wasn't quite as boundary pushing, but it still deserves a mention
deaf grapes babbys are so funny
>>71370444
It's just mediocre glitch-hop you literal 14 year old.
>>71368820
>footwork
>hip-hop
>>71371515
alright then you dumb nigger, what's some good glitch hop and don't say some gay shit
>>71371396
