Every time I bring up Lights on /mu/ no one knows who she is. Her older music is godly, especially the acoustic songs. Her newer music just sounds like bland pop garbage, to me. My wife took me to one of her shows about a year ago. There was a grown man playing 3ds out in the middle of the floor during the show. He had a man bun, a plaid flannel, and thick, black framed glasses. She sort of sold out. She makes the skanks you /mu/tants always post look like dogs.

Idk, at the time Siberia was near-flawless. And The Listening sounds better now than it did when it was released, to be honest... great melodies on there. Little Machines maaay be her best, but the highs were higher on Siberia. I can't say LM has any songs as good as Timing Is Everything or And Counting (though it does have Muscle Memory and Meteorites... which are stellar)

+Wtf mate, Portal is one of the best songs! So soothing! Running with the Boys is A+ as well
Besides the bonus tracks, the weakest are Oil and Water & Slow Down back to back, and then maybe Up We Go

Siberia's for me were Cactus in the Valley and Flux and Flow

The Listening's were all pretty same-y, none really worse than the other. Besides reprising like *all* of Pretend at the end of the album; that wasn't necessary

But it's weird that you think Ellie is *that* bad if you're a decent fan of Lights, my man. Were there only a few certain songs you heard, or an album in particular?
I think the two've got similar singing ability, and both are quite smart in their vocal melodies and hooks. They even kinda have a same progression with their respective 3 albums, which I think is a really cool parallel

I think her voice is good and adorable.
Nice light English accent too.

And the music was more noticeable with her singer-songwriter status on the first album with her acoustic guitar, but I think it's always been solid.
And I think her latest album is her best...sure it's a little long and a liitle same-y, but it really just is a flexing of pop muscle. She showed – like good pop artists before her – that you can make a good pop song a million different ways. Each song on that album, bonus tracks included, is a pretty good example of a good pop tune.

Sure, it wasn't as unique as Art Angels, which was the best pure "pop" album of 2015, but still. I loved it!
