I participated as an open member of RYM from June 8 2006 to July 5 2013. I had a stroke on October 6 2008, which nearly killed me; I was in the hospital, unable to go home, for nine months. Naturally this was distracting. Finally I got up to my speed – admittedly slow – in the last year. Something happened between RYM staff and me – I don’t know who specifically, by the way – which killed my enthusiasm; yes, my good work was still there, but hidden, along with my (apparently) bad work. I didn’t care to hash it out with a RYM person who did a drive-by, waiting for me to come to them, hat in hand, abashed. My communication is hard (aphasia, brought on by the stroke), and it just isn’t worth it. If this is how RYM does its work – like an adult surrounded by children – I don’t care to participate. That’s all; I’m not going to yell and start a discussion in the RYM community. Just wanted people who looked for Scraps and wondered what was different.
