Not that guy, but almost every skinhead I know just is an drunken agro dick who only talks about fights they've been in or the last time they went to jail. Not fun people. Plus Guinness is fucking garbage. I can think of one skinhead in my town who I actually enjoy being around. But they did beat up and run out the nazi punks a decade or so ago so there's that.

Intelligent people know that not all skinheads are nazis and that not all Oi! music is right wing or "RAC"! There are many great Oi! bands that are either neutral or who's lyrics lean to the political left. I'm not gonna list them all but pic is one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite Oi! bands whom I have had the pleasure of seeing every time they came to my town in the U.S.

Skinhead subculture started in Jamaica and the West Indies with sugarcane harvesters and dock workers forming an identity around Reggae music originally called the Rude Boys. The music gained traction and slowly became associated with Trojan Records, a label which specialized in Skinhead Reggae (Claudette & the Corporation, Symarip, The Charmers and more). The subculture was imported to the UK in the '60s, reaching a fever pitch in what many call the Spirit of '69. The Rude Boys, combined with the emerging working class Hard Mod culture, forged the classic Skinhead. Although predominantly white, the original Skinheads were racially integrated.

With the rising popularity of Punk Rock, Skinhead subculture found a new identity as a working class group. People like Garry Bushell greatly pushed the street punk and "Oi!" image through his magazine The Sounds. Bushell was as strong an influence in marketing Punk's image as Malcolm McLaren was with the Sex Pistols. White Skinheads started identifying with Punk in greater numbers, with their Ska and Reggae roots gradually being displaced. As this was happening, Pakistani immigrants started to become a much stronger presence in UK, and the Skinheads, both black and white, came to deeply despise them. Despite the Skinheads' racial integration, casual racism was common, even among the black ones. Skinheads regularly antagonized Pakistanis in Britain (see Paki bashing), so the precedent was already set for White Nationalism to take over. Add some Punk Rock nihilism with the decimation of the working class under Neoconservatism's growing influence in two of the major Anglo powers and, presto, you've got the perfect storm.

In some instances, White Nationalism wasn't even necessary to exploit the racism. Skinhead organization The Anti-Paki League existed as far back as the late '70s and early '80s, years before National Front even looked at the Skinhead movement for recruitment.

oi! is pretty shit. it's not even the nazi thing it's just 2-3 chord basic punk that's used as an excuse to shout their political beliefs. i hate riot girl queerpunk shit for the same reason.

political music can be cool no matter what side of the spectrum you're on, but the music content has to be good. lyrics that are something more than "FUCK DRUMPF KKK WE'RE HERE WE'RE QUEER IN THE USA" or "WHITE POWER 1488 OIOI" over and over are also a bonus. it's why i'm able to like both boyd rice and dead kennedys but dislike skrewdriver and bikini kill.
