I always put my lyrics at the very end of songwriting

My mood affects my song ideas so that once I have the chords, timbres and melodies, the feeling I wanted to express is already there, now I just need to find the words to match. I do this by listening to the song over and over and improvising lyrics until it sounds good.

Once you have a verse you can then consciously think about what the lyrics should be for the rest of the song as you already have the overall theme and the soul

Though that's just me, some people and natural poets and write lyrics first and then make music to match
