They were one of the first artists I heard where I thought of Grandpa Simpson and realised it was happening to me at 27.

I discovered Pierce the Veil around when their second album came out (I was 19 at the time) when my girlfriend at the time randomly bought me the CD because she had "a good feeling about the cover"
I listed to it and as blown away, it was such an interesting experimental post-hardcore album. I assumed they were an obscure band that no one knew which made it even cooler than Jeremy McKinnon was featured on a song.
It wasn't for some time later that I found out they were a warped tour band loved by 14 year old scene girls and I was shocked. I've kept up with the rest of their music and I still think they're far and away the best band in that scene.

Honestly this though.
I was baffled as to why why this board circlejerks over At The Drive-In and Dance Gavin Dance but still gives Pierce The Veil the cold shoulder, then I discovered their fanbase.
They're easily the best "Hot Topic-core" (or whatever you wanna call it) band, and they run rings around all of their brethren. Give it a couples years when Vic's looks fade and the fangirls move on, they'll get the respect they deserve then.
