The term best guitarist is baloney. There's a level of competency with the instrument that many many people have hit. It then comes entirely down to subjective taste of what type of playing or songwriting you happen to enjoy. And despite technical skill, the way the guitar sits in the mix is supremely important to how many people even pay attention to it. So I really don't think there is one superlative best guitarist. Just like there isn't a universal best flavor of ice cream or best language.
