>when did you realize beatles > beach boys
When I first heard Pet Sounds and thought, "How the fuck is this shit popular!?" Granted, Pet Sounds is superior to Sgt. Pepper's, but every other Beatles album after Long Day's Night is vastly superior to both, even Let It Be.
>>71310779
>Brian Wilson never wrote a song as good as Day In The Life
not many people have
>>71310701
I stopped thinking that beatles > beach boys when i listened to pet sounds
>>71310701
WHEN I WAS A BOOOOOOYYY
>>71310701
the exact moment i realised that although Pet Sounds and SMiLE are better than anything the Beatles did, the beatles were far more consistent and had less low moments.
I love Pet Sounds more than either of them, but fuck me the Beatles are still >

or do LSD
>>71310823
every song on pet sounds is better except for rain btw
Beatles may have a more consistent level of quality in their discography, but Pet Sounds is better than any Beatles album.
>>71312389
no. the fact that i can derive meaning from something stupid doesn't mean i should.
>>71312409
you can't though
>>71310701
She Said She Said sounds so much like a mid 90s alt rock/jangle/britpop song even though it's from the mid 60s. It's interesting how far ahead of their time the Beatles were.

oh you're totally right, my consciousness isn't nearly expanded enough

The Beatles could never write a song like
Amusement Park U.S.A.
In My Room
Be True to Your School
Good Vibrations
Cabin Essence
Never Learn Not to Love
Student Demonstration Time
Barnyard
Heroes and Villains
Windchimes
The list goes on and on!
>>71312602
>Heroes and Villains
yeah because they would have given it a chorus that fits with the rest of the song instead of sticking out like a lackluster sore thumb in the middle of a good song.
>>71312626
Oh no and The Beatles would NEVER do anything like that would they?
>Suddenly remembers cheesy middle eight in the middle of A Day in The Life.......
>>71312602
>Never Learn Not to Love
>Student Demonstration Time
>Beach Boys
Let's give credit where credit is due here...

Just because you lack the context to understand something doesn't make it nonsense, you nigger. The lyrics are based on the Tibetan Book of the Dead Timothy Leary's The Psychedelic Experience. It's about having recently died (either a bodily death or an ego death) and choosing whether to continue a cycle of reincarnation (play the game, existence, to the end of the beginning) or die for real (lay down all thought, surrender to the void). And when you're in this state of inbetween life and death you experience a kind of enlightenment that's otherwise inaccessible (love is all, etc.).
