well, is david longstreth allowed to have a break up album?

Saw this posted on Facebook, and so many retards didn't even read the article/review. Triggered hard. He clearly liked the album, in spite of the hackneyed trope. It was an interesting read

"allowed" to make art
fuck this position and any subhumans who support it

exactly, it's actually a pretty well thought out argument. People are very dumb.
The article wasn't bad but I didn't like where it was coming from. Understanding love as something based on "lack" is for people who are fucked, instead it should be based on production. Also thought it was stupid to degrade Longstreth's place to speak because of ""power"" and then compare him to two women who are probably much better off than he is. My main grievances of the album were musical and aesthetic and I think this guy isn't very discerning on those grounds. Like I have no issue with the sentiments of calling Amber a sellout if it were done with any subtlety or grace because I appreciate art. This guy is just coming from a place of moralizing that I can't jibe with

this is Carl Wilson btw. like hallf of American 'music criticism' is rich white dudes fetishising nonwhite 'authenticity' and writing clickbait articles about white men's lack of it

>From Twitter to the White House, white guys have been backlashing like crazy lately, taking deep umbrage whenever someone dares to suggest that inequality exists. (In fact, they’re the least racist or sexist person you’ve ever seen!)
> As a result, the image of “white male tears” has become a trope of feminist mockery—let’s drink them up, bathe in them, savor them, they laugh.
Seems like guy is just catching up with stale c. 2014 woke memes. And also I like how you can ignore issues of political economy by making it all a question of performative self flagellation. Inequality doesn't exist due to break up albums, or even due to the 'white mans' feelings but due to capitalism. The woke music journalist class is too invested in the system and the culture insutry to really go there.
