Is this list still applicable to /mu/?
>>71305372
Who cares, stop being a drone
>>71305397
Calm down, it's just a thread to see if /mu/core has changed, you don't have to get into a fit over it
>>71305372
Replace Illinoise with Carrie and lowell, also add in grimes and its pretty accurate.
I don't go on here that much but is Popul Vuh memed as much as the albums. I never see anything about it other than being on a lot of charts .
Yes, though I rarely see Popul Vuh mentioned, though the same could be said for 2012 when I started lurking.
>>71305372
American Football gets axed. Pet Sounds gets moved up a notch.
Bottom two rows need to get significantly reconfigured. Only one that even really /deserves/ to stay is STFB.
>>71305372
What we really need is for someone to make an "alt-/mu/core" list that would be comprised of shit like NOTM, Yeezus, Larks Tongues in Aspic, etc. etc.
>>71305854
Popul Vuh is almost never memed except in 10/10 albums threads
>>71305372
kind of, but it could be twice at long at this point.
people know they're not "supposed" to post those albums so they post a bunch of other albums that are equally popular and common but aren't in these charts so they won't get called a pleb for liking them
>>71305372
this is the latest chart I believe.
>>71305999
nice T R I P S
>>71305372
r.i.p. Hospice
>>71305883
American Football does NOT get axed.
>>71305372
Why use that when you could use this?
>>71306178
>music for people who don't read pitchfork
O K
>>71305372
Only accurate change would be to:
Swap popol vuh for one of those two memed Fishmans albums.
Swap STFTB for that memed swans album Fantano gave a 10.
>>71306178
The Marshmallow Kisses are terrible
>>71305806
Don't add any Grimes. She's an outsider here, she doesn't belong to that meme chart,
americans have the shittiest taste in music
>>71305372
>>71307332
mostly accurate desu
>>71307332
>i don't like some genres because im art rock autist only
>>71306705
This.
>>71305806
>radiohead and Grimes on one chart
pls dont insult Grimes
>>71307332
>Who cares what's popular on this board, i only want you to listen to what i like.
>>71307513
This
>>71305854
same with Y's, nobody ever talks about it.
>>71307824
Because of her annoying voice?
>>71306053
the hip hop part of this chart fucking sucks donkey cock
>>71307923
dont you dare
>>71307824
joanna gets mentioned pretty frequently, features on peoples last.fm charts etc
>>71307411
I count three art rock albums only, and one of them is crossed out
>>71305372
I only really like The Seer era Swans, but The Seer is really one of the greatest things ever. Popoh Vul is great as well as NhM, Velvet, Avalanches, GYBE, Animal Collective, Radiohead, TH, DG, Sufjan, Newsom, Pet Sounds, Lamar, West are p good too, really nice set of music
>>71308727
I don't listen to much hip hop but where's Bad Bad Not Good, Nujabes, Fat Jon, TPAB, Stankonia and others?
I'd also add Aceyalone Book of Human Language, that album has some great flow and time sigs, Chance the Rapper, and The Jazz Liberatorz
Not really a /mu/ user, but I just thought I'd visit tonight. Anyway how come there's for example quite a lot of Radiohead but not Kasabian?
>>71305372
Yeah but most of it is great
/mu/core's always been pointless. Literally all of those albums are massively popular in basically every other music community and always have been. None of them are unique to /mu/.
>>71310762
This
/thread
>>71305372
Switch GKMC with TPAB or axe it entirely. Kendrick is controversial on /mu/ for being popular and mainstream. One day Atrocity Exhibition may make it.
>>71309470
An album must be a meme on /mu/ to become /mu/-core. /mu/ doesn't like Kasabian because they are popular but not pretentious.
>>71310762
Maybe remain in light, p4k hasn't reviewed it, melon never talked about it until last december, was it a big deal on reddit or something?
>>71310762
Such an irrelevant point, even if it is true. /mu/core is only meant to represent the most widely discussed albums on the board so that newcomers know what to expect. Who here claimed that these were obscure or unpopular?
>>71307332
is this your opinion of what's good and what's not good or of what's /mucore/ and what's not /mucore/
>>71311137
RiL is massively popular on RYM and always has been. Like all the other stuff on there. Not to mention Talking Heads just generally being a very popular band.
>>71308727
Did you want to expand on your stated opinion or did you just chime in to drop off a vague, condescending comment because you're a stupid cunt who is the cancer killing this board and you should fucking hang yourself.
king crimson has fallen out of favor
i dont even know what the thing in the bottom left is
lonesome crowded west should be up there
i feel like we're actually approaching a point where remain in light and loveless are circlejerked as hard as itaots, if not more. "take a look at these hands" is the new "i love you jesus christ"
>>71307513
oh great, it's ones of these faggots
>>71306178
these are mostly all great, and were when they were made rym-core back in 2006-8
Top of the chart is still relevant. Get rid of Illinoise, hospice, and whatever is above Untrue. Replace them with Donuts, Confield, and something else. Replace GKMC with TPAB.
>>71306178
literally just rym-core
>>71311161
this
