So are these the official holy trinity of jazz?
>>71280201
There is no such thing.
They're RYM's Holy Trinity.
They might very well be /mu/'s
but what would you even mean with 'official'
>>71280226
You're dumb.

Black Saint > Kind of Blue > My Love Supreme

Blues & Roots > Black Saint
Sunship > My Love Supreme
In a Silent Way > Kind of Blue
>>71281053
that's kinda the point
>>71281053
It doesn't matter if it's some hipster jazz shit you moron.
It's suppose to be about influence and legacy.
You're down Syndrome. I will laugh when somebody you love die.
If your grandmother or father is dead. I'm glad. I hope you die too. especially from cancer.
You're a troll who can't understand points. Just leave.

>Bitches Brew > In a Silent Way > Kind of Blue
FIFY
>>71281068
this or...
Mingus Moves > Black Saint
Interstellar Space > My Love Supreme
Get Up With It > Kind of Blue
>>71281053
Not really though. /mu/ keeps citing them as good introduction points to jazz, while they really aren't. Maybe Kind of Blue is, but certainly not the other two. If you want to appreciate those fully, you really need some more reference in jazz.

kek
>>71280201
Notice how no white people have made an album on par with Black Saint, KOB, and A Love Supreme?
What does this imply?
>>71281120
>>71281120
>>71281115
>Maybe Kind of Blue
Kind Of Blue literally shaped every jazz album after it.
It's the perfect starting point.
Unless the person in question is some picky jazz fuck.
>>71281143
Yo is this my dad?
>>71281040
this desu
>>71281150
>every jazz album after it
Why not start before it though? Try to understand Bebop before knowing why and how Miles was trying to escape it.
>>71281205
I personally don't know any good starting point Bebop.
But I guess if they're interested enough. Sure.

retarded rym kiddies ignore everything made before 60's for some reason
>>71282778
>for some reason
For me it's because modal, post-bop, free, spiritual and third stream > swing, cool, bebop, ragtime and dixieland
>>71282778
I don't think it's coincidental that around the same time, imagery in jazz really started pushing an image of aloofness and sophistication (photography and album design especially). Modern jazz latched onto a kind of lifestyle marketing that holds to this day with urban artsy types.
>>71282778
I thought Django was RYMcore though?

>>71283183
>being this wrong
>>71283363
You're wrong.
No musician ever comes close to this guy.
>>71281115
Good introductions into jazz really depends on the person. Being into metal, jazz fusion (especially Return to Forever and Al di Meolas solo stuff) got me started. While I like Kind of Blue now I would not have gotten much out of it if it was my first jazz album.
>>71283183
>>71283507
This dude had an alright album, but his genius really shows through in his instructional materials and in his random solo arrangements on youtube. Every jazz guitarist should own his book Chord Chemistry
>>71283390
not really. modern jazz may seem "blacker" but it's slid deeper and deeper into the pocket of whiteness. just look at the audiences, patrons, labels, academia, etc. the "black" thing is an image that resonates with the white liberal target audience.
>>71281090

>>71280201
Why Black Saint over Ah Um?
>>71283766
Black saint is a one of a kind perfect big band inventing album good sir.
Would anyone else put Ellington Live at Newport in their top 5?
I might.
