It was a little outside indie, but these melodies/harmonies are definitely innovative. It's like they had a baby with the beach boys + crosby stills nash and young but their love child was a hard worker and created genius that was still palatable to the masses.

Robin Pecknold is otherwise quite the vocalist, tho

more this than the selftitled just shat on the whole indie folk genre.
i was pretty big into the indie folk shit like bon iver and beirut. made me realise how shit all other indie folk is. it's just a great album and was a gateway drug for me in terms of crossing over to experimental and jazz.
It was the last album of that genre that i liked until recently.
