nice
i just found this little gem through youtube recommendations of all things
Favorite bands are
>Black Flag
>Gang of Four
>Misfits
>Sex Pistols
>Fugazi
>Minor Threat
>Nomeansno
Then there's all the derivatives like Post-Punk, Post-Hardcore, Emo, but that would be a lot more of bands
Currently i've been listening a lot to Death from Above 1979, they're pretty great
>is punk music making a comeback?
Not sure about that, i'd be fine with it though. But current Pop Punk is even worse than late 90s/2000s Pop Punk
>is "punk fashion" a good or bad thing
Never cared for it, it kinda goes against "punk ideology" if you think about it
>>71261756
>little gem
you mean one of the most well known punk albums to come out of the UK?
>>71261776
>Death From Above 1979
Nice. I thought The Physical World was a let down, but I loved Heads Up and YAWIAM.
Also, first for The Clash. I've been jamming their first album for the past few days.
Screamo is punk right? I really really really like this genre.
>>71261787
its a new one for me, never realy explored much british punk before so that's probably why
>>71261833
Yeah, screamo counts.
>>71261829
> I thought The Physical World was a let down
To be honest i haven't listened to it yet, because everyone said it was a let-down. But YAWIAM is great
>The Clash
Never been a fan, although i like Combat Rock
>>71261878
YAWIAM was one of my favorite albums in college.
Are you into any old school punk, like the Ramones? If so, you'll probably love the first Clash album, if you haven't already heard it. It's catchy.
THE GUN CLUB
MINOR THREAT
BAD RELIGION
MINUTEMEN
>>71261943
Nah i haven't heard their first album yet, i need to do it. I'm not really a fan of old school punk honestly, i'm not a fan of the Ramones either. It's not even that i don't like it, but i don't really care for it
The only old school english punk band that i really love is the Sex Pistols (and i'm not even sure they can be considered old school)
However English Post-Punk is god-tier, i love PiL, Wire, Joy Division, This Heat...
Oh and i forgot about Wipers in my favorite bands. I fucking love Wipers, holy shit
>what bands are you listening to?
too many to mention, mostly european oi punk and post punk
>are there any local bands you have seen lately?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CylT0U4c0Y
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0UEd-P0H0g
>is punk music makeing a comeback?
there's always good underground music around
>is "punk fashion" a good or bad thing
no as long as it's combined with interest and actual relation with the music/coulture
>>71261627
>punk fashion
I wear combat boots and a denim jacket almost every day.
It's pretty comfy desu.
Bumping with the Ramones
Recently
>rudimentary peni
>Reagan youth
>good throb
>radon
>chaos uk
>peter and the test tube babies
Can not wait for rebellion festival this year boys
My tastes are too normie. I don't really care about the message, I just like turnup, raise your heartrate type music. Mostly been listening to suicidal tendecies and black flag. I really like that style. But I wanna get into more of it.

>>71263468
Early iceage or ''Plowing Into The Fields Of Love'' iceage?
>>71263487
plowing i think sounds kind of like bad seeds, but i like both so i'd be happy with whatever
my favourite is their second album you're nothing, i also really like this unreleased one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rs8RVDoErNs . it seems slightly heavier than the stuff on plowing
>>71263541
Yeah I prefer Plowing personally but their second is great. My favorite song of theirs has to be White Rune though.

>>71263677
You mean this thread right? >>71256808 This thread has nothing to do with punk. Just some people discussing right wing and left wing politics.
>>71263675
Oh yeah right. Here are some which sound alike:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGo7XyXgUJ4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XnhpQv1tnA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw3Ldw682qM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rc807ISnGmA
Were The Jam punk? Stylistically they were similar and were in their prime in the late '70s and early '80s but they didn't really fit in with that whole scene.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1kaMiIaT-sg
British punk: Intelligent, socially and politically conscious, musically ambitious and experimental while remaining accessible, fronted by some of the most iconic figures in music
American punk: Y'ALL DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE, BEING MALE MIDDLE CLASS AND WHITE
"punk fashion" should not be a thing because I really don’t know how you can drag the leftist message away from it, its the soul of the genre.
But yeah not trying to /pol/ it up but just felt like its worth mentioning or else the musicians who were and are involved would be done a great injustice.
It shouldn’t be something dishonest like a fashion or a trend but yeah moving on to my favourite artists
The Fall
Gang of Four
Wire
Alternative TV
Regan Youth
Suicide
Sleaford Mods
I live in a shit country without a proper music scene so no good local bands
We need a general and I love you for putting the effort in anon

Cmon now
>>71263861
Funny because all American punk bands sing about is wanting to kill themselves.
>>71263835
what is: Pere Ubu.
>>71263898
no you most certainly don't. americans never tried to involve politics into punk. it was the british who did that, and killed punk in the process. you were strawmanning.

Magik Markers
Have A Nice Life
Crass
DNA (as usual)
Culture Shock
Touche Amore (shit)

My local scene sucks ass. I might rejuvenate it with a couple of friends if you catch my drift.
>is punk music making a comeback?
Not really.
>is "punk fashion" a good or bad thing
It's alright. Fashion is a legitimate art form. I can see how people could get annoyed over "posers" who value the fashion over the music though.

Why the fuck does this matter?
It's really hard to over-generalize punk music without sounding stupid.
>>71263891

maybe at its inception but it was co-opted by big record companies and it became generic radio rock

The dead Kennedys killed punk with the song nazi punks fuck off. Punk was a statement of not conforming to typical political ideas and in turn you could create your own opinion unfiltered by the media. When the dead Kennedys recorded nazi punks fick off they effectively killed the genre and turned it into a fad rather than a respectable genre. They ultimately turned punk into a neoliberal breeding ground free from original ideas. At one time punk musicians cared more about music than politics and often times were very conservative such as joey Ramone and Glenn Danzig to name a couple.
The dead Kennedys killed punk and ruined its name.
>>71264127
Although I do agree let's not ruin this thread with political bullshit. Thanks. Post some music.
