Okay guys, I've loved this album for years, it's amazing and one of my favourite metal albums ever. But only today have I noticed some weird green thing resting on the left most grave.
Like what the fuck is that even meant to be? I swear it never used to be there, can someone please tell me they recall it just being a blank grave too? It just seems so out of place.
it's a helmet to go with Disposable Heroes

I mean that makes sense and all but I just can't remember it being there. Am I just being an unobservant tard?

Somebody broke off a piece of the cross. The crosses are hollow and that green thing is a temporary cover to prevent animals from making a home in there. Some say it's still there to this day, and the color isn't even faded amazingly.

>some weird green thing
It's a Vietnam era American combat helmet. There is also a dogtag on the left wing of the forward-most cross in the center row.
The helmet and dogtag isn't present in all copies of the cover you find floating around the internet, meaning that some country's different versions might have included different versions of the cover. This applies to the dogtag especially but I am pretty sure that the North American version included both.

Between the fonts and the shitty CG art this is well up there on the great albums/ bad covers list.

maybe you died and now you're in a parallel universe.

I've also never noticed the dog tag, I'm from the UK and upon checking it looks like the EU edition includes both too, but I just can't remember them for the life of me.

Metal is bad cover art the genre. The other classic Metallica albums are lamentable failures in that they could easily appeal to someone who's not 12 years old.
