Is anyone up for making the Ultimate collection of spiritual albums?
Orange Twin Field Works (Vol. I)
what do you mean by "spiritual"?
>>71253572
Music that affects you in such a profound way that it reaches into your subconscious/albums that are literally focused on spirituality
steve roach - dreamtime return
coil - musick to play in the dark vol. 2
current 93 - the inmost light
oneohtrix point never - r plus seven
i've always thought the major motif of the record was some sort of postmodern spiritual system.
DUDE WEED LMAO
>>71253726
You might be onto something
>>71253549
Let's do this shit.
Immanu El - In Passage
Eloy - Dawn
Faust - s/t
Ash Ra Tempel - Schwingungen
Amon Duul II - Phallus Dei
Lost Children Of Babylon - Where Light Was Created: The Equividium
Boredoms - Vision Creation Newsun
Steve Roach - Structures From Silence
If you got any reasons why none of this belong I'd love to hear them.
>>71253783
No complaints here
Alright boys it's coming along very smoothly, 16 albums in.
>>71253593
>Music that affects you in such a profound way that it reaches into your subconscious
Soundtracks for the Blind did that for me, and probably for a lot of other people too. And it could also be an album about spirituality, depending on your definition of the term.
A lot of people here underrate it to be the cool anti-mucore contrarians; but it's an amazing album.
Microphones - Mount Eerie
New album is shaping up to possibly join this list too.
soundtracks for the blind
>>71253783
>Lost Children Of Babylon - Where Light Was Created: The Equividium
Just wanna expand on this. One of the most unique hip-hop albums of all time. If you're into spiritualism, you would miss out on a GREAT deal not listening to this album.

Lift to Experience: The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads
The most fitting album for the chart's theme.
Yes - Tales From Topographic Oceans
Jon Anderson - Olias of Sunhillow

here's my essay, teacher.
the record's creative use of new age sounds and ideas is maybe the greatest indicator and what primarily gives the record, on the surface, its spiritual vibes. maybe tracks like "boring angel," "inside world," and "cryo" have spiritual connotations. boring angel like maybe classic religions aren't interesting or relevant anymore, the track's also a church organ used in an energetic pop context. inside world which i think would appropriately define the formerly mentioned "postmodern spiritual system." cryo like preserving bodies by cryonics, it may emphasize the microcosmic scale of such spirituality, as if its limited to the individual themselves and centered in their brains--burying the body to decompose on the other hand would imply an encompassing, decentralized spirituality. it's also interesting how lopatin mentioned cryonics several times during his AMA on reddit. more about cryo: the things i've mentioned are a juxtaposition to the "boring angel" of the past. the track's pretty icy as well and has an overwhelming feeling of technology, like black mirror sort of feelings. "still life" might a continuation of the cryonics theme.
"inside world" is my favorite track off the record. it's got some weird processing of human utterances and animal noises with glitchy and new agey synths in the back. it's really explicit about painting its own reality. spirituality stems from meaning-making on an individual level. the track distorts and puts together unrelated signifiers and makes meaningful music. i guess that's sort of an embodiment of spiritual processing of the world.

>>71256049
I agree with Mount Eerie
>>71259199
Here's what it looks like
>>71257103
I saw this compared to Soundtracks. Might have to give it a listen.
This has to be on there, the last half gives me feels everytime. It's Big Star #1 Record. Also Dinosaur Jr. - You're Living All Over Me.
>>71255001
I like the Brian Eno - Apollo idea, but wouldnt it be better to replace it with the actual NASA album of their recordings of planets?
>>71256225
Adding some more:
The Residents - Not Available
Sigur Rós - Ágætis byrjun
Sigur Rós - Takk...
>>71259332
I haven't listened to that album. I can only imagine what it sounds like. Brian Eno's Apollo has taken me places that no album has ever before. If there's space, sure, OP could add it.
john coltrane - ascension
swans - the glowing man
anco - spirit they've gone
>>71259332
Why not both? Apollo centralizes the planet recording idea.
>>71259254
I'll add Big Star but I don't know if I want Dinosaur Jr, imo they are not worthy but I'd be willing to add it if it gets supported more
Also we got have 71 albums, 29 to go.
>>71259336
Adding one more:
Eric Dolphy - Out to Lunch
John Frusciante- The Empyrean
>>71253878
Came here for Mount Eerie as well.
Spiritual is kinda vague, but my suggestions:
Robert Wyatt - Rock Bottom
Van Morrison - Astral Weeks
Tim Buckley - Starsailor
>chart gets once again filled with /mu/core
this shit happens every single time. why even make these chart threads?
Even Oxen - Arrayed Above the Seraphim Lights
>>71260577
The /mu/core is actually in the minority in this chart, there's some seriously out there shit on here, no need to be cynical
I just added two of my own choices to the chart, 20 more albums and I can post the rough draft!
Bump! Let's complete the chart.
>>71262081
What's it look like now?
>>71262129
20 more albums, I'm thinking of adding 10 of my own picks, 10 from you guys so I can finally post this thing.
Phillip Glass - Glassworks
Sunn O))) - Monoliths And Dimensions
OM - Advaitic Songs
>>71262160
Missing an essential one.
>>71262160
That might be a good idea. Don't forget to include album and artist names.
>>71262160
Do it OP and post the chart.
>>71262930
All I need is about 5 albums from you guys, I already have my 10
Fishmans 98.12.28 otokotachi no wakare, has to be on this list
