Singer-Songwriter is the worst genre of all time, it's flat, uninteresting, sings about nothing, sounds like nothing, is the go-to genre for people with zero musical talent, and is, for some reason, incessantly playing on the radio.
Whatever happened to Pop? Hip hop? Punk? Why's everything gotta be soppy singer-songwriter shit or, just as bad, r&b?

I can't really think of many top 40 singer-songwriters who fit that mold. Like Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, are both insanely produced and have huge elements of edm in all of their songs now. Because they're pop.

I can't even think of many popular acts that fit what you're describing. You could just not listen to top 40, all my favourite singer / songwriters were at their best in the 60s and 70s.
