I was extremely irritated the first time I listened to Birds. Absolutely nothing stuck. Now I see it as being clearly better than the artsy mess that was Rodeo. Birds is fun club-trap.

>when the beat drops on the ends
THAT didn't stick mane? C'mon mane

The anticipation and intrigue I had before listening to this album was unparalleled. I really didn't know what to expect just judging from the title and artwork. It definitely didn't disappoint.

>Sir Richard Branson's avatar says hello!
I was not ready for that title track holy shit. I've never felt such deep existentialist dread before.

I had the complete same experience, it just kind of blended together with no big standouts. His other projects are extremely inconsistent but when he hits he hits big. 90210 off Rodeo and Drugs You Should Try It off Days Before Rodeo are actually some of my fave songs of those years
You guys are all fucking pathetic
Not a single one desu OP. Truly great albums will always make you feel as impressed as the first time.
Everything else, why should I care?

Not as pathetic as you
I vividly remember hearing VI Scose Poise for the first time and being completely incredulous at what I was hearing
Fucking mind bending stuff

i was on mushrooms the first time i heard it, so my opinions probably biased.
>>71212647
listening to this for the first time right now, it's not special.

Are you suicidal now?
>>71212695
every song on birds sounds the same

the first time i heard this i was drunk as fuck chilling on my friends back patio after a 4th of july party. I spent most of the night floating around in his pool on one of those blow-up armchairs and playing this album on the stereo. One of the best experiences ive ever had

I think I'd rather recreate the experience of hearing Teens of Denial for the first time after only ever knowing this album
Anything by The Mars Volta really.
Overplayed it, some tracks sent chills down my spine but that's all gone now.

this
I'll never get the same chills I got when I heard parhelic triangle for the first time

have you listened to their first? feels like a prequel to me in a lot of ways, and i still like it more

Listened to them more than any other band by far. Like all their records but Trailer Trash, Polar Opposites and Convenient Parking really make this album for me.
I remember the first time I heard anything from this I was high as hell in my American Popular Music class. Immediately went home and downloaded it. My first real experience with jazz, and actually made me realize jazz was a lot more interesting that I had thought.
