Rain vocals, bass and acoustic guitar were actually recorded with my cellphone's mic. The guitars and keyboard were recorded with a Rocksmith cable.

Our mission was to make the track as fucked and heavy as possible, I did the (shouted) vocals and he did the instrumental.
Now that the entire album is out, I must ask:

the orchestral swells on A Day In The Life are 6 distorted guitar tracks. The piano is a fender stratocaster, and the bass track was played on my archtop guitar using my fingers.

Dong, if we are covering Bowie next, please include Blackout and Joe the Lion 'cos those are my (obscure) favorite Bowie songs and I got sad that Blue Jay Way and Within You Without You weren't on the album (my personal picks for greatest (obscure) Beatles songs)

>>
>>71206977
It sure sounds like it. Amazing track by the way, do you have a Bandcamp?
>>
>>71207026
Yeah, I only know of one Bowie song I wanna cover but I don't know if its going to be on the album because I don't know the popularity of Bowie songs.
>>
>>71207026
Funnily enough I also consider both those Beatles songs personal favourites too. Especially BJW, extremely underrated.

I'm currently making a list of the essentials; i.e. absolute classic Bowie songs which must be included. I'm then gonna put up a strawpoll of songs on the periphery of that and see which ones perform the best. Finally, I'll take suggestions which didn't appear on the poll.

>>
>>71205986
The guitar for Long Long Long was played by me and my good friend after running through it a single time. he learned it and improvized over it in the space of like 20 minutes.

also, he did his vocal take in one try after hearing the song only a couple times.

I figured out the organ parts by ear and played em on a shitty casio that was lying around the house on the jazz organ setting

the drums were done in a single take in a cold ass garage on a terrible set without reference to the original song, something I kinda regret now.

my single tracked vocals were done in a single take as well...

all in all, it took about three hours from conception to finish on the day we actually recorded. Great fun

>>71205986
All You Need Is Love was figured out by re-arranging the chords to fit an easier finger-picking regime, inspired by Elliot Smith

The defeated tone of the song was me trying to instill a sense of irony in the face of the current political regime in the US

the vocals were recorded in one take through an old 60's japanese microphone

guitar was done in after a couple failed takes through my shitty digital four-track's mics

I played it at an open mic last week and got everyone to sing along during the last choruses. I recorded that on a little cassette player I may send to Dong in the upcoming weeks cuz it is bretty adorable

Here Comes The Sun was really hard to learn and record, and I didn't give the greatest vocal performance but Hannah my rommate did very well.

I fucked up in the transition back to the last couple verses and had to salvage it by going n full AnCo Campfire Songs random strumming

I originally planned on incorporating the guitar solo that was never added but can be heard in a youtube video where Dhani Harrison and George Martin listen to the original masters of the track and rediscover it

In fact, why bother letting people grab for songs.
Just make the track list and hand out the songs to the people who contributed to the Beatles album since you're such a massive cocksucker.

Not to mention the fact that this means the faggots that Dong plays favorites with will have extra time to record their fucking song.

Man Who Sold The World
Golden Years
Scary Monsters

Golden Years was claimed really early but in fairness it was IAF, and he has contributed at least one song, usually multiple, to every single Hanging Dong album over the years. Including the obscure ones and shit.

So anyway as I said a few threads back, Bowie songs will be claimed under a more rigid basis. They will only be available to claim via email for starters, because too many people wander in and out of the threads, claiming but never returning. Can't have as many delays as the Beatles album this time.

Also, when a song is claimed, a rough timescale has to be provided for submission. "By the weekend" or "early next week" for example, I'm not after an exact time and date. But I will hold you to your word and check back on that timescale, and if you fail to deliver without updates, the song will be made re-available. Sounds a bit harsh but some songs were claimed over 10 times by different people on the Beatles album.

Still deciding on the Bowie track list, will post it as soon as I have come up with a first draft. I'm undecided on the number of songs this time around. I wanted to do a little less initially, but looking at Bowie's discography, he probably warrants more if anything. Will probably stick with 50 but let me know what you guys think.

>>

another rain trivia: the song is on G# because I was planing to pitched down the song latter (like The Beatles did), it didn't sound very good though
also since there's no drums the bass track was the actual guide track to everything (vocals, guitars and keyboard) hence the weird time shifts

Really though, I like the idea of the Britpop album.

#3 I imagine users would see multiple projects going at the same time as spam and one of the projects, likely mine, would be ignored or deleted or spammed
>>
>>71211631
Nah don't be discouraged to make an album on here, there have been a bunch of minor ones over the last few weeks alongside this one. Most of the board doesn't know this exists so you'll have no problem
>>
>>71211576
Britpop is fun and easy, but also leaves a lot of room to explore. But it does have a more restrict audience though, if there's at least ten people on board with this and there's something like 15 songs to cover it wouldn't take more than 2 days to make really
>>
>>71211731
set up a thread, dude. make the dream happen
>>
Okay if this britpop does happen, which songs should be in it?

Hello is an obligatory opener
>>
>>71211631
Just don't be a dick and probably everybody would contribute, no matter if we worked with Dong or not.
I think there are enough anons to work on multiple projects or multiple artists.
For example, I don't know if you but there are a bunch of anons here shitting on our project just because they don't like the Beatles or don't like anything at all. If you don't screw us we respect you and it works both ways .
>>
>>71211822
Yeah people are hardly gonna give a shit what artist name is slapped onto the project, if they wanna cover some britpop songs they will. You guys should make a thread for it if you want to though. For one, this thread is pretty close to the end as it is, but more importantly it's a thread about the Beatles album/Bowie one upcoming.
>>
>>71211855
need a little bit more hype, I think there's like 3 people into it
>>
>>71211893
This Beatles album was started with 1 person into it, me. It was just a hopeful thread. I guarantee if you start one people will come, they always flock into /mu/ makes an album thread. Mostly just to roll, but it's still something.
>>
>>71211893

>>
>>71213684
My absolute pleasure. Thank you for sharing your clyps page. Is it possible to link specific song? I'd like to start spamming Grimes threads with your song about her. Spam in a good way. Your song should be included in every thread.

Do you play shows? If not, would you if you were booked based on these songs?
>>

>>71206523

>>71213794
To link a song click on the title of that song so it takes you to a page with just that song, then it'll have it's own link. I'm not sure how well that song will be received in those threads though lel.

No I don't play shows, as no one but people on the internet know that I make songs, and I don't really see myself doing anything more than that. I think to do a song like "a black transgender homosexual.." in a show would be really fun, but could have negative consequences depending on who's in the audience. Most of the songs I make I don't really see as being performance worthy though since theyre all pretty short in length.
