This
I hate that so many people try to take james seriously and find some point that hes trying to make with everything. His "artistic statements" seem purposefully ridiculous to me and thats whats fun about it. And between some of his live sets, his twitter and other fuckery its pretty obvious hes just jerkin around

Yeah people who try to get at some specific, articulable point (especially political critique) he's supposedly making are stupid academic cunts who shouldn't be allowed near art or music.
And yeah his work is funny as fuck.
i just think it's great we live in a world where some dude makes music inspired by video game loading screen music and you can go see him perform live. millenials rule.

NYC, Hell 3:00AM and Human Story 3 aren't really funny though.
His music is just like a still-life of the 2010s. If someone in the future would ask me how it was like to live in this era, I would tell them to listen to his stuff.
That said, yeah, B E B E T U N E $$$$$$ and Bodyguard are him making fun of mainstream pop and his twitter is just weird amusing stuff when he doesn't post a HS3 song over a video of the Arctic melting.

Yeah nyc isnt funny aside from some of the track names and text to speech bits. But i find hs3 and the visuals for it pretty funny idk why

Apparently the inspiration for this album comes from drinking a $20 green vegan smoothie in west la and observing people texting, hearing ringtones, talking outloud about social media etc. So he set his sights on creating an album to reflect a completely digital world, an album these same people could blast proudly on ipods.
