not sure if /mu/ is the place, but it fits to me:
why do oldies stations not want to include the 90s when they say THE TOP HITS OF THE 70s, 80s AND MORE!
its like a fucking conspiracy, we are 2 years away from 1999 being 20 years old, shouldn't 90s music be considered old by now?
pic not related (?)
I remember when top 40 stations played hits from the "80, 90s, and today"

>oldies
Might be your station, but I don't consider 90s oldies in terms of popular music and it was pretty uneventful compared to previous years.

problem is im hearing shit like creep and two princes, which i wouldn't think were mainstream outside of the year they played on air. or at all
i think its just they can't accept the 90s as old yet. i guess it'll happen in 2030
also, is /mu/ such a slow fucking board?
>>71161571
It's not a fast board, but people only usually reply to memes, bait threads or threads showing off their taste.
Radio format shorthand:
Classic rock - two decades ago or more (and yes they play 90's stuff already)
Oldies - three decades ago or more (they will play stuff from the 90's starting next decade)
And note, by "three decades" I don't mean "30 years or more," I mean "the third decade in the past," so in the 2020's they will play stuff from all of the 90's even if it's technically under 30 years old. Don't ask me why, but they lump them all together. And it won't immediately happen, it'll be like 2021.

Technically those were Hot A/C stations and not top 40 stations but I'm getting nitpicky.
