ITT: the album you're really into at the moment
>>71152789
ok, i always wanted to know this: In the first song the first part, is he screaming in the backround or is it guitar noises?
>>71152929
He's screaming
>>71152929
SKRAMZ
>>71152951
It's a combo of noise guitar and Lou Barlow (the bassist) screaming. Fun fact, Lee Ranaldo sings backup vocals on the chorus

I'm glad someone else recognizes how great this album is. One of the best releases in its year, i.m.h.o.

Counterparts are pretty much the best modern metalcore/melodic hardcore band by a fucking mile. Every song on that album is killer
>>71153668
BaaO and Capsize's studio debuts are just as good as anything this band has ever done, but I think that's true when comparing them with other Melodic Hardcore bands album for album.
>>71152789
that's actually mediocre. and I love noise-pop. I really don't get the charm. I get that Mascis was an innovative guitarist and that it helped move indie-rock into a noisier direction - but there really aren't any stand out songs.

Any oldfags who happens to be skateboarders in this thread? Dinosaur Jr were very important for the skateboarding scene in the early 90's. Alien Workshop's Memory Screen was basically a skate video/Dinosaur Jr promotional video.

>Lee Ranaldo sings backup vocals on the chorus
Thanks for that info. As a kid I was obsessed with this record and that song especially. Always wondered what was up with the chorus.
>>71153893
woah dude.... fucking deep man... SO insightful, like.... reallly....
First Swans album I've listened to that has clicked for me. Really solid and makes me excited to explore more of their discography.
The new AFI album.
>>71153070
well, you've listened to everything else by dinosaur jr and sebadoh (the bassist's band), right? try fugazi, hüsker dü, sonic youth, pixies, jesus & mary chain, mudhoney, wipers, metz.
>>71152789
raisans is one of the best guitar songs ever, it has everything
>>71154927
Yeah I skate, I know AWS' Mindfield is filled with Dinosaur Jr. and AnCo songs aswell
Jason Dill's part in mindfield is M A G I C, I think he does 2 fliptricks total and it's only 2 minutes long but there's so much there
Is Moonbeams the best song Brian McMahan has ever done?
Kala by MIA. I'm not even sure if I'd listened to it this decade before recently and I assumed it might have aged terribly but there's not a bad song on it.
Just got this on vinyl yesterday and I've been listening to it nonstop
Picked this up for like $3.00 from the basement portion of a local shop. Made the 1.5 hours spent flipping through everything worth it
Digging this a lot more than I thought I would.
This is actually a pretty great album
>>71152789
I love this album to death, but what upsets me the most is that I've yet to find another album that gives me the same vibe as this one: the beautiful blend between noise and melody.

If you liked the noisier bits, move backwards, and if you liked the more melodic bits, move forward. Save SFTB for last.

So fun
For a while this was my least favorite Autechre album and now I think it might be one of my favorite albums period
It's like Confield but with less focus on atmosphere and sound design and more focus on layering and crazy rhythms
So good
It helps that it was mastered to tape too. Gives it a subtle layer of white noise that none of their other albums really have
>>71152789
Really digging INXS. Shabooh Shoobah and The Swing are great as well. Gonna listen to Kick next.
got this bc the first companion was so nice
Timeless.
>>71162446
yeah thats me
I know it's a big /mu/ meme but I just listened to this the first time a couple days, and I'm really enjoying it. At the same time though, I feel like a lot of it is filler, but I'm slowly turning on that thought.

Contemplating all the time I spent not listening to this

have you listened to sujinho?
This, and also Trick by Alex G
Really, really like this. Going to see them in a few months.
Disco is rapidly becoming one of my favourite genres
It's so shit, but I fucking love it, I'm literally obessed with this fucking record

The cover is tongue in cheek, it's meant to be funny and kind of embarrassing. The album has heavy christian themes so the lead guy decided to inject some humor into it to not turn people off(obviously didn't work)
just check it out nigger its p good
Every 2 weeks or so a different song from this album starts blowing my damn mind
