Recently I've been obsessed with the music of Yasuaki Shimizu and Pat Metheny, who both kinda nailed the vaporwave aesthetic decades before the genre truly emerged. Is there anyone else who got this aesthetic before it was a "thing"?
Also, pretty much any chill synth music from the 80's I suppose. Listening to Antena right now and absolutely loving it

that album has almost nothing in common with vaporwave
anyways, coroner's last entertainment is the first vapormetal song, going back to 1989

Yeah I suppose I was thinking of Shimizu's Music For Commercials when making this thread but really I just meant any 80's cheesy electronic music with a chill vibe. Thanks for the rec tho

This is pretty much what I was looking for, not sure how I hadn't heard it given his Eno collab

Holy fuck man you hit the nail on the head. Thank you so much for this
you have to listen to Mark Mothersbaugh - Muzik for Insomniaks Volume 1 & 2, it should make you think to James Ferraro..

And do you know Dip In The Pool?

i just go into Hassell today; his other albums seems to be less "murky" and cleaner, and not really fitting for this vaporware aesthetic you're looking for.
as far i know, Aka/Darbari is the only so close to OPN/eccojams
