Only semi-related but the little violin melody in the final chorus repetitions after the bridge in Jesus, Etc. totally get to me. I don't know why I like it so much, it's pretty simple, but I just love the way it sounds

As well as Radiohead, Beach Fossils, Slint, American Football, Real Estate, Mineral and bands like them. There is just not enough happening musically to hold my interest, and I'm not one to appreciate lyrics if they're not accompanied with good music, because if you can't arse yourself into putting effort into your music, it's obvious you don't care, and if you don't care, then neither do I.

If you're not a fan of the genre/style at all then there's no hope, just move on. Otherwise, this may sound silly, but: Don't go into it expecting a 10/10 record. I watched /mu/ / Pitchfork / etc. hype this record up for years before I listened to it, and I was disappointed because I expected it to be amazing. Truth be told, it's just a really nice, catchy, clever folk pop-rock album to chill out that doesn't sound cheesy or insincere. It's a good album with a story around its release that hyped it up more than it deserves. If you just go into it with a different mindset, you might find yourself enjoying it.

Or not. You don't have to like everything /mu/ says it's good. That's fine
