I found the two albums (Runt, Something/Anything) I heard of his pretty mediocre so I never got around to that one

I think its great, definitely his last good album. From "Todd" onwards he's had moments but in general he got worse and worse. AWATS is his best mix of experimentation/personality and solid pop tunes. More varied than Something/Anything and a bit more polished. Highlights are funny lyrics and drum sounds, lowlights are things like "Flamingo" which is what he went on to do way more of (and worse) because they sound like dated prog compositions that don't really reward repeated listening. In general, a very cool sounding album though.

Why do people keep posting this everyday saying the same thing as OP when nearly everybody has heard it?

It's fucking fantastic anon.
The first-half is a ridiculous psychedelic art-rock thrill but then the second has heartfelt ballads that ooze with optimism and hope.
My only gripe with the album is that it's a little too overindulgent at times with tracks like 'Flamingo' and the pretty mediocre medley section.

I fucking love it, some of the most all over the place psych pop I've heard. Not too much a fan of semi-heavy Todd, but I love batshit insane Todd and tender Todd.
