i don't like how the music industry constantly pumps shit into the aether for months and months until they finally choose an interesting, unique sounding artist only to spam them down our throat to make them look like the GOAT who saved music out of nowehere so I'm biased toward anyone who blows up all at once with like 5 hits all on the radio at the same time.

That being said, for that category of media darling performer, I enjoy his songs.

He could be bigger if he had released Secrets and A Lonely Night as singles. He still wants to market his R&B shit but the problem is that it's not that good compared to the trilogy days.

He seems like he's trying to make a new sect of Christianity based on Prosperity Gospel because he uses a lot of religious imagery but also says a lot of things that seem anti-Christian on the surface but perhaps by decoding the lyrics could be revolutionary.

For instance I see the video for Starboy to be pretty radical, it appears like he is saying that he prays for cars and is very materialistic right but also that he can't be happy unless he is in a long term monogamous relationship which he feels like evades him. This entire idea carries through a lot of his songs "well every woman is a gold digging whore BUT in theory I would like to get a hot one I could trust".

Not that I am saying monogamy is only Christian or anything like that but it seems to be a wistful yearning for the days when men could settle down but also a feeling that you don't want to settle with a 4/10 either.

I feel like the hunger for being more religious is inside his music but the struggle is real because he loves success, fame and money too much.
