Trent's in-your-face whiny vocals ruin it and prevent you from immersing yourself into the atmosphere. They settle his music firmly in the contemporary world where normal humans live and have normal human problems. If he deigned putting some spooky effects over his voice it could work but he doesn't so it doesn't.
