Lets get another post-hardcore thread going. Start by discussing this album and giving me some recs (already know of hot snakes)
I've been listening to this a bunch.

At the time of that album release, posthardcore wasn't really called posthardcore it was just called indie rock, math rock, indie punk, noise rock, or slacker rock.
Bands from the same era as DLJ that share the same influences of DLJ, and have similar sounds, although they don't necessarily share the odd time signatures, verse chorus verse structure, and song lengths (in other words if you like Hot Snakes as well as DLJ) are...

OP, this guy knows his shit. The only bands called posthardcore that are good are atdi, fugazi, and dlj. The bands he listed are great, with the exception of Unwound which I find to be overrated.

Embrace and Rites of Spring are as good as Fugazi.
I also believe Polvo's Todays Active Lifestyles > Yank Crime

THANK YOU
i always heard people speak of leaves turn as if its some masterpiece
>>71071524
I didn't like that one much either. I like their mid 90s stuff more, but they're still an above average indie rock band, 3-5 good songs on pretty much every album.
try:
lowercase (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r21-omLQkVA)
US maple (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHepUIx9tKo)
bellini (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Cgj_E4zEvc)
and you've probably already heard of them, but the jesus lizard, rapeman/shellac, etc. are all good classics
pile and ours blond are two good kinda throwback-y new acts

unwound are great quit hatin sucka
>>71071518
Polvo's a great band, but for me they haven't made a masterpiece. I think think most of their stuff falls in the 7.5-8 range.
>>71071518
today's active lifestyles > most albums tbqh
>>71071606
ooh I love US maple, I haven't heard these lowercase or bellini yet, getting exited!!

I have some pretty weird trivia about Brainiac.
Because I'm a fan of theirs I watch live clips and read through comments of songs on youtube. It turns out that Mark Hamill's son Griffin is an OCD level fan, he leaves comments on pretty much every video of theirs.
Looking to prove it I found this pic.

>Unwound overrated

>>71072785
glad you finally came to your senses, glad i was the one to do so.
Faraquet and Valina if you like really mathy Post hardcore with vocals
all these bands are gay. Dance Gavin Dance is real posthardcore.
>>71073212
Twenty One Pilots needs the mantle of real posthardcore. They are the best of any and every genre.
>>71071963
may the force be with their interior decorator
