Lain's up there. Certainly doesn't hurt that Duvet is a perfect pop tune.

Katanagatari.
>>71057422
Agreed.
I've always liked the music from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and .hack//SIGN
Yare Yare Daze
Hibike! Euphonium
Eva has some great music
>>71057526
Hibike! too, but I always found it weird how they used a professional orchestra and told them to play badly, especially in the first few episodes. They all have amazing 10/10 tone and intunation but the music itself is out of sync.
Texhnolyze, Trigun, Gunslinger Girl and the YKK OVA have god-tier soundtracks.
And even though they're not that great holistically Bleach and Hellsing TV had jamming soundtracks as well.
>>71056942
yeah yeah
the ED was like a weird mix of grunge and enka which I though was awesome

I dug the opener on tokyo ghoul season 2
Spice and Wolf's OST is pretty great
japanese popular music is hot garbage so that's a tall order
but of course, answer is Ninja Slayer
>>71059264
Ninja Slayer is garbage hiding behind le irony lolz.
>>71058889
that's like the best song from a movie ever made imo. it's so beautiful.
Cowboy Bebop

>Certainly doesn't hurt that Duvet is a perfect pop tune
I ended up listening to the race of a thousand camels and it was definitely worth it
>>71057693
>they used a professional orchestra and told them to play badly
Well, I mean, the show is about a *high school* band basically just starting to become good, it wouldn't really make sense if they all sounded amazing right away.

I adore this show
anything where its the actual show's OST and not the OP and ED themes?
Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist has some good music, Big O, Serial Experiments Lain, FLCL for sure, Death Note, Ghost in the Shell
Metalocalypse
>>71061270
Also Neon Genesis Evangelion.
>>71056981
came to post this
Also, if you're into Jpop, K-On actually has a fairly extensive amount of material, even though the show itself was quite devoid of musical content.
>>71056769
I agree with several in the thread, adding aria the animation
https://soundcloud.com/recklessenguin/yui-makino-undine-full-op1-aria-the-animation-2
>>71060415
Yeah, but it has Boris in the soundtrack, so it makes up for the show being intentionally shit.
>>71061270
The guy who did the score for Ghost in the Shell composed the music for Ip Man, so I agree with you there.

the gear roll call on this show is insane. It's like they were directly supported by a fucking group of roadies with investment capital in all the fucking gear they show
>>71064560
fucking finally, was wondering when someone would post this
>>71057525
I'm a jojofag, but I don't think the anime soundtrack is anything special. It has a few good tracks, but is mostly forgettable.
>>71064560
eeee you might be right...........
>>71057944
The best part about the Lain Ed and Soundtrack is looking at who made it. Since Nakaido Reichi has a pretty extensive discography and is well know and influencial in Japanese classic/glam rock, in RC Succession and Reiran. The Lain ED was actually originally featured on RC Succession - Marvy album. which is fucking impossible to find.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rYAvSvIp_o
but goes all the way back to the 60s and 70s with some some really good psych folk with solo and Furuido records.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L31ZfS173tg
At least from my experiences in exploring his Discography it ranges anywhere from pure cringe to really interesting progressive rock and jazz fusion almost ala Santana, but with totally unique phrasing that occasionally devolves into hectic noise.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djdckaklTG8
He's actually a really interesting artist and an underrated guitarist, where at his best he'd bend blues style jams into something really unique.

>>71057526
Hibike Euphonium is a fucking amazing anime even regardless of the music. I've seen over 200 animes and it's easily near the top in animation, writing, and acting. It made me pick up an instrument and start re-learning how to play music again for the first time in 10 years, if that says anything.
>>71058081
Anything from Haishima actually. From Monster to Macross Zero or even Spriggan.
>>71056769
Both Berserk adaptations feature great pieces of music. 90's TV series' soundtrack was composed by Hirasawa if you're into electronica. I highly recommend checking his solo works (Sim City, Philosophers Propeller especially), Paprika and Sennen Joyuu.
In a radically different genre, Sagisu wrote some fantastic neo-classical tracks for the movie trilogy.
While Bebop and GiTS are highly praised on /mu/, Kanno has done so MUCH more than that. To name only my favorites : Brain Powerd, Turn A Gundam, Macross Plus, Escaflowne and Memories (Magnetic Rose).
Let me drop some more while I'm at it : Kara no Kyoukai, Ping Pong, Mind Game, Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki, Tekkon Kinkreet, EVA Rebuilds

Have you tried NaNa?
Sakamichi No Apollon (Kids on the Slope), obviously.
you anime kids are no better than the furries. Stop being oddly effeminate even though you're straight, stop making regular people feel uncomfortable, shave, wash, and get some social skills.

Well he means the way they did it was bad. the rhythm was the only thing that worsened, but the other aspects still stayed great. So it sounds like an avant garde steve reich piece instead of an actual high school band
