is it hip and cool?

Not cool, 90% of the time, unless you're just wearing it around the house. I think pins and patches are more likely to be okay, and generally anything that isn't so blatant as the logo, the band name written on it, or something comparably "iconic".
it's pretty much like walking around looking for an upvote

The most uncool is going to a show in the band's tee. But you can wear another band's tee. This is the only scenario when a band tee is acceptable.
I think band tees are cool. If I see a dude wearing a shirt with a good band on it I can go "hey man that's a sweet band" and we can talk about the band like it's better than talking about the fucking weather or whatever.

i don't know whether its because I'm autistic af about music (prolly) but dudes never seem stoked on talking about music. They always act awkward or weird. I get hype as talking to people about the artist i'm wearing
I own quite a number of band t-shirts because their graphics are better than most normal designs you find in stores.

Come on, dude. I know we're on 4chan, but you've gotta be older than 15.

Naw, 21, most of them are just from when I was in high school when i was 16-17 and thought I was cool wearing indie t-shirts. Doesn't mean I forgot the reason why I bought them in the first place.
I'm too lazy to restart my closet and my body type hasn't changed so I still wear them/

How poorly do you dress lol

I live in a state that's humid 365 days of the year and doesn't change seasons so I guess I dress for where I live.
wearing band shirts is for retards ;)

Fair enough. Didn't mean to be so harsh on ya.
I'll buy shirts from small touring acts if I liked their sets.
And they usually end up becoming "at home" shirts or I wear them inside out. I'm too old to wear graphic tees in public.

these gay little kids are more badass than you

I mean, I'll buy it straight from the band to support them, I don't see the problem with wearing their shirt with a logo/graphic as long as it's not too flashy
That pic is a bad example, too
