Demon pop (dark pop?). Kind of like Xiu Xiu's pop-ish tracks. Just some artsy, experimental, kind of abrasive, electronic shit with fucked up lyrical content, yet catchy and danceable.

Worlds End Girlfriend
in a thread not long ago, I asked if grunge rap and surf metal existed
People told me to listen to bones, by the throat by eyedea, and king by XXXtentacion for grunge rap
And to spirit noir for surf metal
I'm still open for suggestions

>Vaporkraut
Much of what dream catalogue does that isn't TOO ambient is very progressive electronic-y at times
>Post-classical
Maybe this could be attributed to the genre Totalism? Make sure to check on Glenn Branca's Ascension if you haven't. In doloriam gloria by Parnassus is very classically inspired black metal if that works. Also, maybe internet inspired MIDI based albums would fit the bill? Deep Thoughts by Giant Claw and Human Story 3 by James Ferraro could work.
>Ambient gangsta rap
Viper lmao
>J-Country
World Standard is possibly one of the only bands that not only does this, but they execute it in a creative and innovative way. Try their albums Country Gazette and Mountain Ballad.
>A rock band with a flute-playing frontman
Jethro Tull's already been said, but Pavlov's Dog works to the same extent. Their first album in particular, Pampered Menial, is quite fantastic.

Death/Doom is pretty close to what deathgaze would be. Especially since some bands have a bit of a gothic post-punk vibe.
Disembowelment is my favorite, and transcendence to the peripheral definitely seems shoegaze-y at times to me.
>>71031470
id beg to differ. the vocals and guitar create a texture similar to shoegaze imo

Give The Angelic Process a shot. It's more of a doom/blackgaze (done right as opposed to Sunbather), but has tags such as "death metal" and "my bloody valentine" among others.

Not really, no. There's a very nice texture but it lacks either the density or dreaminess that would be required to really make it fit the genre. A little reverb on your vocals doesn't suddenly make something shoegaze.
Here are some actual mathgaze songs for comparison:
