For me, The Clash is the best band in all of human history. I love me some "Sandinista!" but I can sing along word-by-word with "London Calling", since I've heard it so often.

The Clash de- and/or refined Punk, but they are above 90% of Punk Bands. Only Dead Kennedys come even close. Sex Pistols have not aged well musically, The Ramones are fun but have 3 songs that they repeat over 20 records. The Clash did not repeat themselves once in their records, that's unique as far as I know.
