Discuss music similar to pic related

/fringe/ is an open discussion on more avant garde music that can be fringe for enjoyability for someone in the first few listens.

Be nice and have a cool day

>>
>>70970505
yes but you forgot to add Ground Zero and Mike Patton's works like naked city and Mr.Bungle
>>
>>70970571
I think they created cloud rap so I would believe LUM
but their grimy sound is something hard to find
>>
>>70970586
I tried cloud rap but it feels too forced and pretty samey content wise

pic related has some really good avant folk/noisey shit
>>
>>70970662
Any Industrial that isn't NiN is considered Fringe, also Nail being their best album is an undisputed truth
>>
>>70970662
I'd say /fringe/ is anything that is avant and obscure but not enough to be completely unheard of by a well learned record store owner. The best medium, imo for finding new music, becuase there is usually a lot of it.
>>
>>70970682

I need to get into a record store one day but I'm too much of a pussy and would sperg out at any second
>>70970706
Been getting into industrial lately
20 Jazz Funk greats are great, never experienced this since Suicide.
Have you watched that Foetus/Current 93/Coil documentary? Its pretty good for understanding a bit more the scene
>>70970816
I love this image
>>
>>70970816
hell yeah dude
>>
>>70970836
Haven't seen any of their documentaries, I do have to get around watching Daniel's and The Residents movies though, don't forget to checkout Skinny Puppy too, another synth heavy Industrial band, just don't listen any album after the 1992 one
>>
>>70970919
I think Im not prepared for The Residents
I loved Meet The Residents when 16
Gonna get into Thug Dept. now
If you have 40 minutes free have this https://youtu.be/xx0X-E6OE4c
>>
>>70971001
*Test Dept.
>>
can any of you guys up England's Hidden Reverse?
>>
>>70971001
Everyone is ready for The Residents, listen to Duck Stab, Eskimo or Tweedles!
>>
>>70971001
The Residents - Not Available
is really easy to get into imho
>>
>>70970833
dubs confirms it
>>
>>70971049
Not Available is depressing though, stuff like Duck Stab is wacky while still keeping that spoopy aesthetic The Residents like so much

How does this look for top ten? Will work on more tomorrow
>>
>>70970571
They're several notches better than everyone who tried something similar. True geniuses of hip hop.
>>
>>70973456
looks good, but i'd replace nail with thaw
>>
>>70973456
Good, hopefully more anons are active by tomorrow so we can fill the chart
>>70973525
I prefer Nail as its more chaotic
>>
>>70973456
Faust 1 instead of 4.
>>
>>70973713
Faust IV is more experimental than Faust I
>>
>>70973822
It's good, but 1 is transcendental
>>
>>70973703
Nail is more bombastic and grandiose
Thaw is more abrassive and chaotic
Both are incredible but yeah Nail is easier to get into I guess
>>
>>70973456
Too pedestrian, what does this have over the OP chart?
>>
>>70976231
IDK, just wanted it to be a little mid-range between the other chart and other stuff that is fringe imo. Open to recs for it though
>>
so what is GOAT /fringe/ core?
