Why is this album always compared to Sgt. Pepper?

I have never heard this in my entire life, but It's a shit comparison because MVOTS is great and Sgt. Pepper is the 6th best Beatles album.

I don't think anyone over the age of 21 likes Vampire Weekend. I think a better comparison than the Beatles would be with the Dave Matthews Band, since VW's music is pretty much only listened to by college kids.

Idk man. All I can say is that it's a fine album which sounds just a bit too faggy for my liking.

it's the idea of them embracing a broader set of influences and really fucking with studio experiments to add to the songs. Every album is compared to Sgt. Pepper because ever since Pet Sounds/Sgt. Pepper, this is one of the narratives we use to understand the trajectory of artists' careers or whatever.
