6 A.M. -3:00 UTC, I was having a bad dream. Suddenly I woke, look at my cellphone, see that Drum guy wasn't gonna be able to do the drums, a friend of mine that was supposed to delivery some backing didn't send nothing. I was down, I thought to myself: "I'm not gonna be able to finish the track, Dong is gonna be piss". This thought was lingering my mind, I couldn't go back to sleep. So, because I was really depressed, I decided to listen to one of my favorites albums: Loveless. In that masterpiece there's little underrated song called "Sometimes". After listen to that masterpiece I just scream: "I GOT IT! I know how to finish the track". So at precisely 7:00 A.M. I got up and pick up my classical guitar. So I recorded the most bumped down vocals that I could think of. Then add it to mine project. THAT IS IT, THE SONG IS FINISHED. Moral of the story anons: Always believe in yourselves.

Dylan would be cool if we specified that you had to add some more to it than just a basic acoustic cover (though some of those would be cool too). Dylan songs do really lend themselves quite well to covers and additional instrumentation.

Though it seems like a lot of people seem set on doing Bowie next. I'll probably sit that one out, but afterwards I think Pink Floyd, Dylan, or Radiohead would be a good direction to go.

Obviously anyone is welcome to organise a Dylan one, Radiohead one, Zappa one, or whoever they want to. But as far as the Hanging Dong name and bandcamp is concerned, the next cover album will be Bowie. I welcome people to arrange the other artists under a different name though, I'd be interested to see the results. If I'm putting all this time and effort into another big cover album though, I'm gonna be doing an artist I'm really passionate about. That's Bowie.

I kinda want to do a nice comfy 10-15 song album next after this one, though. Just a nice, succinct album of original compositions with a binding genre and no particular concept. We all need a break after a project as huge as this Beatles one.

Seriously, Kid A, Ok Computer and maybe In Rainbows have a level both critical and popular success that is basically only seen by those legacy acts. Just look at any kind of review aggregate site, and you will see those albums continually placed in the top spots. And as its been nearly 20 years I think we can discount recency bias.

I swear I'm not some fanboy, I straight up dislike In Rainbows and there's a general sterility to their music that keeps me from really getting into it, but they really are the only larger act that the music press and public seems to revere on the same level as those others.
