/mu/ I need your help. I need educating.
i've recently purchased a beautiful gretsh resonator with the intention of learning the blues. i'm no stranger to playing the guitar, but I need inspiration and suggestions on artists and songs for inspiration and influence. i'm looking for a dirty, bluesy sound preferably with a slide involved. so far i've discovered the black keys, NMA, Bob log III, soledad bros, john lee hooker, reverend peyton, son house, moreland and arbuckle etc and a few others. feed me your knowledge /mu/. Teach a guy from Wales about this amazing sound that we don't get to hear over here as much as we should!

ok, OP

Big Bill Broonzy is where you should start.

Did you know George Harrison and Eric Clapton were fans? check out Eric's Unplugged album for a great rendition of Hey Hey. anyway...

Robert Johnson is kind of the king of the delta blues, though.

he didn't record too much because he died young at 27. he's a fascinating person and one of the natural masters.

i haven't looked at all these links that have been posted, but the fact that Robert Johnson hasn't been mentioned yet is kind of startling.

also i want to say something else. have fun learning the blues, but please never forget that this art was a product of the sorrow that comes with existing within poverty and systemic racism. the masters who sang these songs conjured their sorrows effortlessly because they lived with them every waking moment of every day. experiment with the style and all, but don't ever presume you can create like they could. you cannot. in short, just have some respect and reverence. go ahead and write your own songs and cop their sound, but make sure your expectations are set correctly. if you can tap into a source of pain like they did, you'll write some good blues. if not, you're going to sound mighty hokey.

peace, my friend

sound advice, thankyou. i'm completely in love with this sound, it's relateable and beautiful. weirdly, listening and (attempting) to play it makes my own blues go away, which is something special in itself.
as with all the links that have been posted so far, i'll be repeat listening and learning as much as I possibly can. thanks my friend.

interesting that he was part of the "27 club" too
