The Clash are garbage pop-"punk" and only a pleb would consider them an essential part of the scene.
Also punk music itself is mostly trash so you have no real reason acting smug about your love of agressive and overglorified rockabilly, created solely for entertainment of white niggers.

How were The Clash punk beyond their first album? Everything they did after than was backwards-looking rock and roll with a little bit of attitude and some reggae and ska influence.

London Calling is a decent album but it is nowhere near as good as its reputation. Sandinista and Combat Rock are pure cringe.

Punk is one of my favorite genres and i'm pretty indifferent toward the Clash honestly
Mostly because, as others said, most of their stuff isn't even Punk to begin with

London Calling is pretty boring imo, but Combat Rock is great though

Of all the "classic" Punk bands i think Sex Pistols is the better one
