Sturgill Simpson, My Morning Jacket, Nikki Lane, Alabama Shakes, Chris Stapelton, Jason Isbell, Drive By Truckers, St. Paul & the Broken Bones, Anders Osborne, .....I could go on for a while.
Personally, ones that have been on my mind a lot recently:
My Morning Jacket-It Still Moves
Drive By Truckers-American Band

Would this have been a timeless classic ROTY SOTY winner if she said MJ and Madonna instead of Biggie (who?) and Nirvana?
Anon recommended Magnolia Electric Co. in another thread and it turned out to be great. Pretty sure it counts as Americana. Certainly sounds American as hell.
Also, The Band, of course.

The Band is southern rock though. Americana is the spiritual successor to southern rock.
That's like saying that Issac Hayes is Neo-Soul.

still not Americana

Oh, I thought Americana was older than that. Wikipedia thinks The Band are Americana, fwiw

Yeah, I kinda don't like how they do that. But they're still hella influential to it.
The genre is complicated. I mean, everything from Sturgill Simpson to Alabama Shakes falls under it. Just think of anything post-1990 that is based in "indie-rock' but has influences of Southern Rock, Space Rock, and/or R&B
