Opera is fucking garbage. There is not a single art form that is more over the top and melodramatic than opera.

Ballet is good because it is driven entirely by compositions. I can't even listen to opera without instantaneously thinking that it's completely ridiculous.

it's also very over-restrictive and downright bland when it comes to its music

The music obviously isn't the centerpiece of operas, they're too busy trying to manufacture artificial drama, so the music usually just becomes this background hum that fades away and nobody really consciously notices
