so now that the dust has settled, who did IDM best? I think it was BoC
Autechre, and it's not even close
dykehouse https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGi41s-o3C4
Mouse on Mars
Why does this bendy synth music affect me so?

they are amazing in a techical , mathematical way, but BoC has that soul
>>70795785
autechre is objectively better in the soul department too

>on /mu/, you're not allowed an opinion

That's sort of ambient, not IDM you fucking faggot.
>>70795809
Hate the word objective in actual discussion, but I agree with you

I say Tycho. One of the very few artists that I saved the entirety of an album

BoC has ambient songs, but is definitely not ambient. evan bartholomew and wolfgang voigt are a couple of artists that mainly do ambient, for comparison. idk about calling BoC "IDM" though, they don't really make dance music.
as for OP's question, I'd say james holden is one of the cooler IDM artists imo.

>make a song
>it's a decent song
>make it again
>make it yet again
>do it more
tycho needs more diversified sound imo. they have a couple of good tracks but the rest is a bit boring.
Who "does" IDM

>he selectively deletes songs from albums
