who still buys CDs? Optical storage is known for degrading quite quickly... I just don't understand it.

Mac Demarco, nice mang

I want to have something to hold for the money I spent. I don't have a record player at the moment, I rip the CDs to my computer in FLAC, and I can play the CDs in any hard in which I drive.
Been really wanting to cop this since it's the first time on vinyl but with shipping it's close a bit over $40. Should I cop it?

Thanks dude.

Apart from a very few old CDs affected by the notorious disc-rot problem, all the well-kept digital albums manufactured in the 80s are still playable with no problem at all.

I recently bought on discogs a nice near-mint copy of the gatefold sleeve double cd version. I paid it around 20 euros plus shipping.

I bet your one of those people that spread the mp3 hard drive myth.
>>70790282
I buy them because I like to collect music and they're often dirt cheap for albums I like but not enough to justify vinyl copies of

I prefer vinyl myself but what the fuck are you talking about

not to be a debbie downer for all the cd enthusiasts (more power to ya), but he's not making shit up

Your Mom.
>>70791228
Disc rot is more of a manufacture defect than a natural occurrence for audio CDs. I have CDs from the 80's that still play fine. However, we still do not know the natural lifespan of the CD, since it's only half the age of the vinyl record.
>>70791468
Besides, even if disc rot is a natural thing, ripping to your PC is a much easier task than vinyl records anyway.

the cd manufacturers seem to have resolved the problem shortly after it came out, back in the 80s.
The optical media pressed in the last 20+ years is likely going to last a very long time.
this sexy beast. also picked up a shure m97xe cart to replace the old low-end AT that came with my dual. sounds amazing.

What in the absolute FUCK is this? I just listened to the first "song" and it's literally a bunch of noise. It's not even different noises. It's like the same thing repeating for three minutes. I don't understand how people can enjoy this. If the whole album is like this, I don't want any part of it. This is not a "classic" album. This is fucking noise.

nice meme
Glad to see I'm not the only one here who heard that Courtney Marie Andrews album.

I know right, not often one for country sorta stuff but this really stood out to me
Got these a couple of days ago
Picked up Kitaro - Asia (Live In Asia) and Since I left you. Didn't know SILY had a rerelease, I just happened to see it at the record store and was kinda hyped. Also saw Kitaro in the new arrivals section and didn't know anything about it. But the cover was cool and I saw it posted on /mu/ once so I picked it up for $5. Both are pretty sick.

Close up of the blue vinyl.
got a copy from the man himself the morning it came out like two days ago. fucking incredible, by far my aoty so far and i would be very surprised if something else beats it.

I want physical copies of my albums, since I don't trust streaming or downloads to provide me with music whose fidelity meets my standards, but I don't want to spend the money on a vinyl setup.
In the age of ripping to FLAC, what have you got to lose?
Living near Amoeba is great (and deadly). My mom wanted the Leftfield album haha
